Yes, I placed my order this morning to pickup at a local store, so it is Free Shipping. If you are close enough to the store and you sign up for Ace Rewards (Free), you have an option to choose free delivery to your home from the local store.

I'd have to agree. Although I like supporting my local ace when I can, they are often priced considerably higher than lowes/HD. Seems like you only find a deal when they run a specific sale on a product.

How are they still in business? I go there sometimes because its close and I do want to support them but its hard justifying a purchase from them when they are asking 20% more than HomeDepot/Lowes..

The only thing I do at my local ace is warranty craftsman. Other than that it's way too expensive. Sometimes I buy sale stuff but even then it's only a few bucks less than HD or Menard's

Because they are close. Because the people that work there are 30x more helpful than HD or Lowe's. Because they carry huge selection of fasteners.

their fasteners are way cheaper and they have a much better selection.

the reason they are more expensive, isnt because they are greedy. they actually need profit margins to justify staying in business. they hire real people who have experience in a relative field who know what they are talking about. not some highschool drop out who's experience consists of stocking the grocery store shelves and running a register.

non franchise hardware stores have gone out of business, and now all we have left is ace. few years down the road when ace goes out of business and all we have are home depot and lowes, and they decide to buffer their profit margins now that they arent worried about expanding, we will all be crying about how much we miss the local shops.
