Thanks for the promo code. I only use 1 of the 2 local Walmarts in my area for free pickup but never again will I purchase any meat or produce from there. I personally shop for those items elsewhere. There are only 1 of 2 places locally that carry fat free, lactose free milk in the gallon size ($5.99+/g) I can get to $50 quickly with milk at that price and it keeps for a month or so if unopened.

I choose carefully what I buy from them. A lot of things do cost more at some Walmarts... I have a bunch of Walmarts where we live, and one that is close to an Aldi's has been selling milk for 1 cent higher than Aldi, and exactly matching their prices on bananas, lettuce, and such. Combine that with $10 off and you have a great deal.
And there is a Walmart in another part of town which mysteriously has ridiculously cheap prices for eggs but much higher milk prices, no idea who they are competing with. I stock up on whatever is cheapest and fill my cart of store brands that we use all the time and which are the lowest possible prices.
So just as with all other things, shop around if you want to maximize your dollars.
If you want to see high prices come to the small town grocery store up here in the sticks. Luckily I drive a Prius and I often take a trip to the closest Walmart that's 35 miles from here to stock up and once a month I make the 75 mile trip to a bigger Walmart and a Aldi store... and Menards.

Compared to whom? I haven't seen anyone beat their prices in my area. Meijer used to have good sale prices, then Kroger started doing good on their sale prices. But Walmart beat all of them (and both stopped having as decent or sale prices). Walmart was even beating or matching a lot of prices at our Aldi. It seems, in the past few weeks, that Aldi has started to back down on some of their prices, but some staples (like spices) they made them smaller. But since they don't have everything I need, I only go when I need to pick up a couple of things that I know they have or there are a few things they only carry or is cheap enough to make it worth making an additional stop.

If you haven't been recently, Walmart has really made an effort to lower their prices over the past year or two. And with grocery pickup, you don't go into the store and get tempted to buy more stuff. I used to like picking out my own meat (making sure I got the smallest family pack knowing I wouldn't use the large pack or looking for meat markdowns), but I realized the money I was saving not picking up extra things that weren't on my list, and not less the time I was saving, was worth it. And they've been pretty good at getting me smaller meat pack sizes instead of the larger ones (so far). The only thing I would change is shortening the availability times. I want to pick my groceries up around 8 AM (after I drop the kids off at school) and to do that, I have to have my order in by like 9 or so the night before. One time I was even putting in an order for that time and it kicked it out when I went to check out because it was too late to enter for that time frame. I know they have to have time to shop, but not 12 hours. And it's usually late (waiting for the kids to get to bed) before I get around to doing it. I might have to try what someone else suggested and pick the time a week ahead and build my cart throughout the week.
It seems to me that if you have a smaller-value coupon or just a sale price with no coupon (except BOGO), you might as well buy at Walmart & not hassle with the coupon or waiting for a sale because the price will be about the same.
Months ago, I used the pickup service & it had some kinks to work out, but it's a helpful service. Hopefully this will work on delivery (which is available in my area) & offset the fee.

Does anyone know what happens if you place an order using a coupon code ($10 off $50) but when you get to the store your total falls below ($50) due to an item not being in stock or something. Does the $10 come off the remaining balance or is it voided all together.

Just happened to me. Order went all the way down to $32 and I still got $10 off to essentially make it a ~33% off deal.

$10 saved, thanks! Also I usually end up making out well on the substitutions since they'll typically give you the larger size of things when they don't have the smaller size. They've never once had the 99 cent chocolate chunk large cookies but I add them to every pickup order because I usually end up with a giant box of the smaller cookies for the same 99 cents. Last time it went well with the gallon of milk that I got for the half-gallon price. Smilie
