I found the Zumo 396 LMT-S while searching for a Father's Day present for myself. Best price I can find and is a respected seller. It's actually cheaper here than I can find refurbs anywhere else.

$399 from Garmin
$346 on Amazon

I'm impressed that people are still buying these. It's been years since I or anyone I'm my family has used a Garmin or TomTom instead of Google Maps or Waze.

What are some of the main advantages of this over using a smart phone?

With Google Maps, you can download the areas you want, so that they are saved in your phone. I do this not only to reduce data use, but also so that maps works even or especially when I'm in an area with little or no cell data coverage.

I did see that this Zumo has some nice features, but it's not worth that much to me and I prefer the simplicity of just using my phone.

BTW, Waze has a motorcycle mode, but it seems to be designed especially for California and countries with Lane splitting it filtering. I found that it takes me to traffic jams, assuming that I can easily ride right through them.
