I have both a V20 and a PH-1. The V20 has the trashiest battery known to man. I literally have to keep it plugged in at all times or else it's dead within hours (and that's without even using it). The PH-1 I've only had for a week and I was enjoying it until today when the keyboard suddenly got wonky on me and was randomly not registering keystrokes. That seems to have cleared up for no apparent reason but if it happens again it's going back.

PS. No idea how both phones can claim to have a 5.7" screen...the PH-1 is tiny compared to the V20.

the lg v20 is priced exactly what its worth.obsolete on arrival

spend a little more and get the LG G7 thinq. especially if you are on tmobile it checks every single box. wireless charging, sd card slot, headphone jac, dual camera with one wide, good front facing camera, wifi calling, VOLTE, band 71, etc. you can get them on ebay or swappa anywhere from 150-220. oh its snapdragon 845, just last years cpu. current one now is 855.

The V20 has much bigger bezels and the Essential is narrower, so the screens' diagonal measurements are similar but the V20 has a larger display area.

My pleasure! I've been using the PH-1 for about 9 months and it is, for me, just about the perfect size. The screen is big enough that I don't feel like I'm squinting all the time and the slim bezels (chin excluded) mean I can still use it one-handed in many situations.

LG V10 and G4, yes. Regardless, LG offers repairs for boot loop phones. They offered to fix my G4 for free.

had my v20 for a few years. it never overheats. i love it! never had a problem with the screen, then again, i have a thick tpu case around it so it doesnt crack when it falls. its one of the best phones i have owned so far. there is no other newer phone with a removable battery, headphone jack, microsd slot, and IR sensor. the built in FM radio chip is also a nice bonus.
I second that - been using V20 as daily driver for over 2 years now, and on my second one after the first one suffered water damage on vacation recently (there's even a nifty water-damage indicator).

Never had battery problems with any of the two, except with shady so-called OEM batteries off eBay. THOSE were a nightmare.

Removable battery, microsd slot, and the quad DAC make it a winner for me.

LG V20 has been a winner for me for two plus years also. I don't know why people hate on it so much. It seems superior to its peers of the time and still holds its own today.

I just moved from the essential phone to pixel 3a. I wanted to like the essential phone, but the camera was so bad even with the updates. And my touch screen on it started getting wonky, and scrolling was not great, as well as subpar haptic feedback. Now that I list all those things, I realize the phone pretty much sucked. I had the LG v20 prior to that, and absolutely loved it. It's just getting a little bit long in the tooth at this point. But the audio was so good from it and I liked the tap to wake and second screen. The pixel 3a pretty much checks those boxes and has a top notch camera. Moral of the story is of you are considering these, get the v20.
The Google Camera APK mod fixes those camera issues FYI.

I just got rod of my nightmare of a phone the LG G6 and picked up a refurbished Galaxy 8+ .
What a difference in operation and even reception, the LG fell down in so many ways and calling LG was another headache as all they did was redirect my to my provider and REFUSED to help me.
Will never buy anything LG again, best buy , sprint, Costco all the salespeople say they steer people away from LGs as they are problematic and do not offer a very good experience to the user.
My Galaxy works in a much more intuitive, smooth manner and picks up so much more strongly WIFI, Bluetooth and my cell service I was shocked at the difference.
No matter how cheap they are offered I would stay away from LG.

No, it doesn't. Makes it better but it is still not good. Even with that, the camera is the #1 reason I got rid of mine.
