I just moved from the essential phone to pixel 3a.

I'm on the same boat!
Had my essential for a year. Other than the random ghost touch and bad camera I'm happy with it.
Jawton do you recommend pixel 3a over essential? TIA!

Thanks for suggestion.
But no thank for making my phone thick like a monster to spend a battery for price as the same as the phone

Tiny hands? 😏 It works great for me because I have large hands and can still use it one handed, and I prefer a little more bulk as opposed to small and dainty.
If the battery is less than $15 , I will give a try.
now I have box of Lg V20 batteries BL-44E1F

Is a GCam Mod port available for the Essential phone, and if so, does it improve the image quality?
Yes...my PH-1 camera is amazing with the GCam apk

No, it doesn't. Makes it better but it is still not good. Even with that, the camera is the #1 reason I got rid of mine.
The main issue I see on the ph-1 is lag on the color camera. Agreed the Google APK does not fix those. But it does add night shot.

That said, aside from the lag, the quality is quite good and the dedicated b&w camera works well and has led to some really amazing shots for me.

I loved my V20 and only issue I had with it was screen burn in. Didnt like you couldn't control the DAC lvl as it did it automatically by reading the resistance of the cans or IEMs. There was a fix for it if you rooted the phone and installed an older dac file that allowed you to control that function of how much juice it used to power them. I would also suggest the V20 if looking for a music player with a dac and a very decent camera for the time.

If you get a good PH1, that's a great price. I got mine preowned from Amazon and it's a great deal.

Bought my PH-1 for $150 in July on eBay. Fantastic phone. With gcam pictures are fine. I can easily get 2 days out of the battery. I usually buy a new phone every year because I get bored with them but this one is just too good. I'd have to spend a lot more to match it in build quality and performance. Besides the X4, you'd be hard pressed to find something that preforms comparably for the same price.

Love my V20. Battery life is much better now that I got the new Perfine 4100mah li-polymer battery from Amazon that fits with the stock phone back cover. 7 hours screen on time, which is much better than with stock batteries.
I second this. If you want a V20 battery with a higher capacity while avoiding the larger ones with the extended backs, then go for the 4100 mAh lithium-polymer batteries by Perfine or Maxxxjuice (I have the latter). Someone recently put up a detailed review on the Perfine battery:
https://old.reddit.com/r/lgv20/co...e_battery/
Also, in case anyone is wondering, the LG V20 can run GCam (Google Camera) ports (no root required). Night Sight is available, although the newer versions are a bit buggy.
And most Sprint V20s cannot be rooted unless they are still on an old software version from May 1, 2017 (Software Version LS997ZV7), which is a shame since most annoying issues (such as the temporary screen retention) are easily fixed on this phone when rooted.

had my v20 for a few years. it never overheats. i love it! never had a problem with the screen, then again, i have a thick tpu case around it so it doesnt crack when it falls. its one of the best phones i have owned so far. there is no other newer phone with a removable battery, headphone jack, microsd slot, and IR sensor. the built in FM radio chip is also a nice bonus.
My screen started ghosting very badly so I sent it in to LG to be replaced. I got it back a month later with the same issue, but since the warranty expired in that month, they refused to do anything about it. I switched over to the Pixel 2 at that point, but I still use the V20 as a dashboard in my car for music and maps. For $70 it's a great deal just for that usecase.
