Actually, I did exactly what you believe is damaging to the battery. I typically don't charge my phone or tablet until the battery goes down to between 10-25%. If at the end of the day, my battery level is 55%, I don't charge it, but leave it until the next day for charging. Every few weeks I let the battery drain to 0 until the device turns off by itself.

In a nutshell, I charge my devices in such a way that the capacity is maximized (e.g. from 20% to 100%, never from 60% to 100%), and always to 100%. Ironically, I complain about non-removable batteries but in fact all my devices with non-removable batteries charged this way are still functioning with good battery life (iPad1, iPad 2 retina, Kindle DX, etc... even my Zune is still working laugh out loud ).
So what you're trying to tell people is the opposite of what the science has shown? like actual real world controlled tests, not anecdotal stuff like you experienced?

Begin charging at 30% and charge to 80%. There really is no arguing that, no matter what luck you've had doing otherwise. Saying anything else is irresponsible.

Plenty of people get a new phone at least once every two years, so battery degradation is of no concern to them.

the lg v20 is priced exactly what its worth.obsolete on arrival

spend a little more and get the LG G7 thinq. especially if you are on tmobile it checks every single box. wireless charging, sd card slot, headphone jac, dual camera with one wide, good front facing camera, wifi calling, VOLTE, band 71, etc. you can get them on ebay or swappa anywhere from 150-220. oh its snapdragon 845, just last years cpu. current one now is 855.
I just got a V30. Snapdragon 835 and certainly not new, but it does everything very well. Battery life seems good so far. Seems like an upgrade in every way from my Axon 7 w/ SD 820 and mediocre battery. No screen issues, and none of the goofiness of the V20. For under $200 in mint condition you won't find anything much better. VOLTE, Wifi calling, BT 5.0, OLED, microSD, decent camera, and headphone jack - everything I wanted.

Even the fonts on webpages, app tiles and the keys on the keyboard seem way smaller on the PH1 when compared side by side, though. I strain to read things on the PH1 vs on the V20. I know you can up the font sizes in the setting but that can cause some things to become wonky so l end up setting everything back to default.
I can't remember exactly but I think I did up my font setting one notch. I think that may have only been for the texting.

Here's a fact-- my battery status from my iPad 1 purchased in 2010:

https://i.postimg.cc/Gtkg0FcR/IMG-0154.png

ALL (apple, android, kindles, etc) of my devices that are charged to 100% maintain this level of condition. But none of my devices that were partially charged are still alive today-- they ended up traded in or in the trash.
BTW - that battery measurement app is absolute rubbish. There is no way in heck that a 9 year old lithium battery has GREATER capacity than it was when new (the "DesignedCapacity" row). After 9 years at the very least it would be under 80% of its original capacity, even if you treated it the best way possible.
I think I understand why you're so confused. Your measurement and testing is way off.

Would it be a good upgrade from a G6 to a V20? The G6 seems to get "stuck" once in a while

Personally, having owed my LG G6 for a year and now getting this V20, I would say stick with the G6. If you want, back it up and wipe it to bring it back to life again. The V20 so far seems good but not good enough to switch. The G6 seems a bit more "polished" overall.

That v20 is a solid backup phone, ebay unlock code for $8: https://www.ebay.com/itm/REMOTE-U...Swl7pccZQC or https://www.ebay.com/itm/Unlock-L...SwoYFbppIJ
Just a heads up, I used one of the services. Both of them seem to need to use a remote control program such as "TeamViewer" to connect to you computer and install VPN software, Remote Smart Card Drivers, an unlock tool, and a Remote USB application. The entire operation takes about 30 minutes with the download and installation of applications remotely. Once they are finished, my computer was left with all of these apps installed still along with my Antivirus disabled. I am glad that I used a VM to do this (I would suggest that you do the same). Did it work? Yes. I am using my V20 on ProjectFi at the moment without issue (you will need to set your own APN). Peace

VM = Virtual Machine (or use a laptop w/an OS installation that you don't care about possibly being reconfigured).

I thought it would be as simple as "we buy code, they send code, we enter code on phone" like I have done before. Lol.

So, we need to make an appointment with them to do this? In addition, for safety, I guess we would also need a spare laptop that we factory-reset after, or use a VM. I don't think everyone knows how to use a VM though.

It seems such a hassle to go through to have it unlocked. [sigh]

It may be worth noting that the first seller supports the LS997ZVD version, meaning the software on Nougat. And the second seller states that 20a (LS99720a) is not supported, which is Oreo. So, if you receive a Sprint V20 that is already on Oreo, then these unlock methods probably won't work.

Holy sh*t, my "unlocked" Essential Phone, is a SPRINT variant /gasp/.

I also found in the earpiece speaker rubber glue like RTV silicone, I can scrap out with a pinky nail. WOW, and the black phone is a fingerprint magnet like a MOFO.

To check if your phone was locked to a provider. Power off the phone. Hold vol down and hold power button simultaneously.

Wow, I just tested my PH-1 using your little trick and mine too says it is locked to Sprint (even though I supposedly bought an unlocked). Did you manage to get yours to work with a non-Sprint SIM card? I don't currently have one on hand to test the phone with.
