Looking for this answer as well. Is this better than the Sleep Sounds skill on Alexa? I can't sleep without the white noise from my google home or alexa anymore. I guess product wouldn't require internet to work.

I think it is highly subjective whether this device will work better than other things that already work for you. It could work better for you. I have echo dot 3rd version (and echo dot 2nd version) and google mini's and was using white noise and brown noise on those devices and they worked for me. I did get one of these devices ... the one that is 19.99 today and I like it a lot better. It has a fuller, deeper better sound to it, hard to describe, I discussed this in this thread already. I can get this device to be very LOUD or soft , the sound setting I'm using makes me feel like I'm in my bedroom on star trek USS enterprise ... creates a sound that seems to come from all around the room, strange sensation. My echo dots or mini's don't create that sensation at all to me.

I can't speak about the other models on sale today, but the 19.99 one works for me. I was surprised because before I got it I was recommending echo dot's and mini's and mp3 files and youtube videos. So it is highly subjective what will work for others. I guess try a few devices and see what works for you.

I want to use one of these with a smart plug controlled by Google Assistant to turn it off and on. We have a different white noise machine but every time it loses power and comes back on, it will also lose its settings and go back to the default configurations.

Does anybody know from experience if any of these can survive losing power without losing settings?

I have discussed this in this thread already and how to set it so it saves last setting if power failure. Smart plug will work with this device, and always turns on when power comes on.

How is the micro LectroFan compared to the regular? I already own the regular which I bring along with me for travel but could use a smaller one.
I own both. The micro is surprisingly good for its size, but not good enough to make me give up my mini at home. While it's loud for its size, it doesn't fill up a room the way it's larger sibling does, and it's more directional. I'll also say that almost all the sounds on the micro are just harsh and annoying to me (whereas most of the sounds on the mini are at least pleasant), but then you only need one that works.

So the micro isn't perfect, but I'm still happy to save the room in my suitcase for travel.

Just came to say this has been a life changer. Fans will wear out fairly quickly (2years or so) if you use them every night. Mine started to click. Anyways, I set this up on a smartswitch and set it to turn on for my goodnight routine. It really is the icing on the cake when I go to bed.

Too bad you don't own the "regular" version so you could give us complete review of the 3 sizes. I only own the regular size version which is bigger and louder than the mini and micro versions. I got the 19.99 one and it can get super LOUD and gives very FULL range sound (good low tones) and I can use it with my power banks if I need portable use.

I'm not saying you need to get the regular sized version, but it would be interesting to see how you review all 3 models.

Why do the comments about using a phone app get down voted??

They have plenty of sound options/customizations, timers and volume control.
Because, at least without a quality external speaker, you won't get nearly the quality of sound nor the ability to mask other noise with your phone. There are also convenience issues--not everybody wants to leave their phone all the time they want white noise, for example with a baby or when I get up in the morning before my girlfriend.

But mostly (at least for me) because there are 97 posts saying the same damn thing about "Why don't you just use your phone?" and it gets really tedious. Yes, we know there are apps for your phone. We've tried them. If it works for you, that's great. If it doesn't a device like this can be great.

So you did! I thought I read the entire thread but I must have somehow missed yours as I was scrolling and multi-tasking. Thanks!!

I'm sorry, I had my models mixed up. It is the one on sale for $19.99 that I own in addition to the micro. It's still compact, and yes it gets extremely loud. In fact I'm not sure I've ever turned it up all the way.
