WARNING:

In order for this 9th gen CPU to work with this motherboard, you will need to do a firmware update on the motherboard with 8th generation CPU installed.
Seriously, newegg???

9/10 times the mobo will boot the 9400 as the 8400. Then you flash the new firmware and it will boot as a 9400. And yes that is what happened with my as rock using last years bios.

I will eat my words if anyone can show a real world report of a 9400 not posting using last years bios.

The 9400f is actually one year newer than the 2600x. At stock speeds, the 9400 beats the 2600x single core, quad core, and is better at gaming. It also doesn't need high speed RAM to work well. The only advantage to the 2600x is that it can be overclocked, and has hyperthreading. Please research before posting.

Woah.... how is this even a thing? Pretty absurd and anti-consumer if true. I was about to jump on this pending reviews...

This is a great price but you can get so much more this board only has two Ram slots and only one M.2 slot and the processor is kind of underwhelming but the price point is excellent if you arent particular about your build. I just recently completed a build with a Asrock B450M and it had 4 Ram slots two M.2 slots and the AM4 based board I put a AMD Ryzen 5 2600 six core with a higher base of 3.4 Ghz did a benchmark this morning and that processor is in the 93 percentile when compared to other processors out there and the build itself is in the 83 percentile, but this price point is tempting still.

Underwhelming? No way! This is the equivalent to a 2600x, so, actually better than your CPU. It also doesn't need expensive ram to perform well, either.

This actually is fairly common. I had a ASRock motherboard that I used with a Pentium G4400 and eventually wanted to use a Skylake I7 7700 K but the motherboard would not take it unless I update the bios. But I had to update the bios with the G4400 in there. I was lucky that I had a spare cpu. And now if I ever want to use the G4400 again I will have to downgrade the bios. I agree this is very stupid but this is how it has to work I guess.

gaming 9400 or 8400 is better than 2600x or any 2700. streaming not so much due to no hyper threading. depends on what you're using it for i guess.

A quick look up shows them equal in games and more often than not, the 2600x winning. Assuming you overclock it.

The same kind of shannagans went on in the 1155 days too (second and third Gen processors). And I even seen it from Newegg bundles also. But I've never heard of having to downgrade to install an older chip. You should be fine.

So, then, we're agreed. This would be an excellent deal

Lol welcome to the world of mixing PC generations. Want to run Win 7 off that shiny new NVME ssd you got? Good luck, no NVME drivers, so you need to boot via a thumbdrive and flash the harddrive with the drivers.

Dont spend $65 on a motherboard and you wont have this issue.
