How are you getting $529? bottom line seems to be $595 with priceline, ANZ,cheapoair, expedia, priceline, and orbitz. at least for all august and september flights.
$595 is still a great price, and availability seems wide open

Wife and I just went there last week and it's so beautiful. I highly recommend doing a trip to Aitutaki (about 40 minute flight from Raro) super nice beaches, great food, and ANZ is a pretty good airline. We were about 4 hours late on our return trip, but overall amazing.

also bought with Chase points and got the flights discounted more from there.

good tip, what are the best months to go there? I noticed you went on the tail end of summer?

Booked through Air New Zealand as the cheap companies looked a bit toooo cheap to hassle with potential headaches. Wife was looking for a lazy vacation where you don't have to be on the run all the time, so this fits the bill.

French Polynesia is amazing. I booked and also grabbed the SkyCouch for $249 each way. If you don't know about the Skycouch it is a set of 3 special seats in economy that fold to a flatbed for 2.you buy 2 seats and the Skycouch surcharge and you get the whole row of 3 seats. Less than $1500 RT with the Skycouch surcharge for 2 from LAX.

May through October for the least amount of rainfall: http://www.besttimetogo.com/visit.../Rarotonga
This is a fantastic deal. We went in Sept a couple years ago and it was perfect, with the occasional drizzle which is expected since it's a tropical island. They also have a bus that goes around the island and I recommend getting a 10-trip pass. We found that more convenient and economical than paying for taxis. Also recommend the Aitutaki day tour as well as the night market which I believe is held a couple nights a week. From LAX, the routing allows for either 6 or 12 nights and we felt 6 nights was just right. Costco also offers accommodations there as well.
