We need either Valspar Duramax Flat Latex Exterior Paint or HGTV HOME by Sherwin-Williams Weathershield Satin Exterior Paint .Both are included in the rebate.Anyone have any recommendations as which one is best?It will be used over top the stucco on the bottom of the outside foundation of our house.
Also,if I use a Lowes giftcertificate to pay for it ,will I still qualify for the rebate? Will rep for any help.

How does Valspar stain compare to Olympic or Behr? I need to stain a pergola that can withstand south sun and tons of snow and rain in the winter. Hate to have to do it every dang year.

Any paint on discount for the exterior patio (cement) ?
Not for nothing, but I'm going to be using duramax on my exterior porch.

I pressure wash blasted off a ton of the existing paint (along with a lot of bad mortar). 2 different blasts, removed even more paint by hand, then worked on various mortar tuck pointing and concrete problems revealed by blasting 75% of 50+ year old paint off.

I'll be priming the concrete and stone with Valspar concrete bonding primer then covering it with the duramax.

And yeah, this is taking forever. And it will, unless you are prepared to skip the prep.

You can always do what my neighbor did, don't pressure wash, don't mortar, don't fix and repair cosmetic problems with mortar rubber repair. Just basically paint over old paint. It looks like shit unless you are 30 feet away, but hey, he did get done quickly.

Ughhh,we need our porch steps painted too.Didn't realize I need to do all that. Our porches are covered with dents.Would we need to cover them with some cement to smooth them out before painting? What kind of cement from Lowes would we use to smooth it out,do you know?

Well, you don't have to do it. All depends on how picky you are. Every time I'm exhausted at the months this is taking, I look at his work and grin. I even repaired a messing dent of concrete the size of a marble on mine, he left big pieces out or -gasp- smeared with rubber filler.

If it were me, I'd blast em. Use one of those turbo Nossel attachments. What you use to repair it depends on what the issue is. If it's tuck pointing and bead joints use mortar and Go Deep- stick a tool in there and investigate the joint. I've filled joints in 4 inches deep. If it's messing concrete, just use any concrete you want to. If it's a very narrow and deep crack, I also use hydraulic cement.

After repairing my stairs, I'm not going to paint the tops of them this time, just the sides. I think painting the tops is a lost cause. Paint will be screwed up in no time unless you are going something like epoxy.

Thanks for the tips. Was thinking about repainting the tops but I think too it will just be a waste of time. The cement steps don't seem to be cracking or anything they just have a lil dents all over them.

Depending on what paint you buy, primer may be included in the formula. One coat=primer+paint
No such thing. That's a marketing gimmick

Bought paint on the 10th, any chance i could fill out the rebate from and get it?
No chance. Buy again, return with old receipt, then submit rebate with new receipt.

In case anyone is wondering, I purchased two of the 5 gallon cabot stains on separate receipts with $20 off coupons and still got the rebates on them during the last sale.
Do you know if the previous sale also in their terms noted cannot be combined with other coupons and promotions. I do see it in this one. Any idea ?
