The Dyson V6 Fluffy Cord-free vacuum has 75% more brush bar power than the Dyson V6 Cord-free vacuum. Cord-free. Hassle-free. Up to 20 minutes of continuous suction. I have all three models, the V6, V8, and the V10. The main differences between them are methods of emptying the canister, and the noise.
The V6 is noticeably louder than both the V8 and V10 in their base power modes. The V10 has 3 power levels compared to the V6 and V8's 2.
In terms of emptying the canisters they each have their pros and cons. The V6 canister bottom just pops open (unless they updated it). You end up having to use something to fish out clogs. The V8 canister raises up to push out the dirt but feels flimsy. While I haven't had it break it's always on my mind when I got to empty it. For the V10 you have to take off the attachment to empty it. At first I didn't like this system, but it has grown on me as it has a much more robust feel than the V8 system for pushing out the dirt.
Out of the 3 only my V8 came with the fluffy head.......I wish I had it for the V10 as I love it for hardwood and tile. I'd recommend getting both the motorhead and the fluffy in a package as they are pricey to buy separately.
All this said for the price I wouldn't recommend getting the V8 or the V10 over this unless you can get a deal on them. My V8 absolute pro was a refurb straight from Dyson that came with a 1 yr warranty, but I couldn't tell the difference between it and a brand new one. It was worth it. The V10 was full price at Costco and didn't come with the fluffy head.....I regret buying it. My V6 is old and that wasn't an option back then. I still use it mainly as a car vac.

We bought this last year for the same price and love it. It surprised us by coming with both the fluffy head and the carpet head along with some other less useful attachments. It is GREAT for hardwood floors - light weight and very easy to use even with a bad back. It runs plenty long enough for most jobs IMHO. It is not perfect, and does not replace a larger-sized machine for big jobs or high napped carpet. It also vents the exhaust air towards your face from some common positions during use - not pleasant even with a HEPA filter. But we would still give it 4+ stars out of 5 for a very useful cost-effective tool.

The "fluffy" refers to the soft head designed for wood floor and tiles. The complete package comes with an additional motorhead designed for carpet for $30 more.

I just moved into a house that is all hardwood flooring and I've been scouring Dyson reviews/deals hard for the last week or so. Originally I said I would bite on the V6 if it hit $150 but, everyone seems to push for the higher V8 and V10 models. Are these premium models truly worth 3-4x the base model price if all you're doing is hardwood or looking for something to replace a broom?

It all depends on the size of your house. Obviously V6 has the least run time when compared with V8 and V10. If you live in a small house or apartment, V6 should be sufficient.

I'm in the same boat, all hardwood with some rugs... is the "fluffy" part any better in the v7 or v8 or as KingL335 says, is it twice as better than the v6?

Here is a good comparison I found: https://www.pickvacuumcleaner.com...-cleaners/

I understand that just like what you were saying, am I going to get twice the benefit of the fluffy part if I spend twice the money and buy a v8. seems like it is slightly better on the v8 but definitely not worth the upgrade price to the v7.
I went ahead and bought it either way.

Did you get the carpet motorhead with the basic fluffy package? I ordered the complete package assuming it comes with that head. The listing didn't specify what's in the complete package. I made that assumption based on the pictures they posted on the listing.

The suction is much better on the v8 plus x2 battery size. If not too much of a diff i would go for the v8.

If you've never had or never considered a robot vacuum, I think they're ideal for hard floors. We just have a basic ECOVACS one that's not particularly smart, but it does a great job and feels like having a maid. Not having to actually do the cleaning (we set it to run when we leave, or while we take the dog out) feels 10x better than I thought it would. I have a Dyson upright that doesn't get used much anymore.

Unfortunately, I have actual walnut floors... I would love to have a robot vacuum, but with my luck, that thing will drag something around all day marring the crap out of the floor...

I have this and it works great on a 1400 sqft house and I have a dog. The carpet motor head will remove the dog hair on low pile carpet with a couple passes. The soft motor head for hard wood works great, and acts almost like a buffer.

Like everyone says the V8 and V10 are stronger with more battery life... however for $149 the V6 is a great deal. I own the V6 and my wife loves it, the higher power ones obviously run a lot more in price.
Intimately if you're looking for a great deal get this. If you don't mind spending money, get the V10
