Saw this in the clearance table at Walmart so YMMV. Has somewhat decent reviews online. Maybe a nice pickup for those looking for a true 4K UHD with HDR blu-ray player.

May I ask what the difference between "true" 4k and not "true" 4k is in regards to a player?

I think it means it plays 4K Blu- ray discs. And not just upscaling DVD/Blu-ray.

True 4K meaning full resolution from the media, i.e. 4K discs, and not subject to compression etc., when streaming 4K media

Some blu-ray players upscale 1080p discs to 4k, this is not true 4k. Some blu-ray players play actual 4k discs, that's a true 4k player.

This is the same as the Magnavox $50 deal of the past.

As long as your tv doesn't support dolby vision, go for it.

I have been using the Mag player for over a year, and it has been mostly great. Like 3 lockups ovee that time. Just unplug it and it resets fine.

Got in on that Magnavox deal, the player is a POS. Will randomly reboot or turn off while in the middle of playing a Blu-ray disc. The menus seem to be forever stuck in audio assistance so it'll audibly tell you what function you're using (i.e. fast forward, pause) which is annoying.

I'd go for this one if I had the choice and I have no clue if this is any good but can't be any worse

These Phillips players are excellent for the price. Streaming is only YouTube and Netflix I believe...

Vizio P supports Dolby Vision, therefore it would make sense to get a UHD player that also supports Dolby Vision. I'd recommend the big brother version of the Phillips 5502, the 7302 (aka 7502 at the warehouse club's like Sam's)

Yeah other reason I didn't get this even at $50 is not many reviews on it even though it's been out for a while and the few I could find all mention the same thing that it stops working after a few months for no apparent reason.

Yup waiting for a good deal on the Sony ubp-x700 with dolby vision again for my Vizio TV myself.
