I have been using this drive for almost 2 years on my PS4 pro. Makes games load really fast and is a big storage upgrade. Would make a decent laptop hard drive if your not using it for gaming. I would only buy this over an SSD if you actually needed the space or are on a budget. The 5400 RPM speed is its bottleneck and 8GB of NAND runs out pretty quickly. Your better off just buying an SSD if you want something really fast. That said.. THis is a good price for 2TB of storage in a 2.5' form factor. It is a perfect upgrade to give a speed/storage upgrade to a PS4.

That's not the same class drive, at all. There is no NAND flash cache. It's not a hybrid. And, not to mention, 8GB > 128MB 🙄

Agreed. I have it in my regular PS4 and it's been a great upgrade to the standard 500gb hdd.

Hybrid drives normally boast about how much NAND they have

The linked drive at NewEgg is NOT a hybrid drive. The drive linked only has 128MB cache, normally HYBRID drives have 4GB or more

This is a good heads up. But after checking this is the same model (ST2000LX001) that I purchased a couple years ago that had 8gb ssd cache. So I'm thinking the spec might just listed incorrectly on newegg's page.

with tax you'll probably pay closer to $70, so best spend your money here;

thinner, better brand, better cache nod

Rolling the dice and breaking my 8-year Seagate boycott for this. Not willing to spend big on a higher capacity drive for my PS3.

Bought one. Should be a decent upgrade for my PS4 Pro (even with just doubling the capacity alone... but the speed benefits will be there, too). I already have a portable enclosure to put the original drive (from the PS4 Pro) in. Use that as a portable hard drive for my Macbook Pro. Win/win.

I hate Seagate, but the price is too tempting. By the time 2tb SSDs come down in price, the PS5 and next Xbox will be out. I'm not about to spend $300 on a hard drive for a soon to be obsolete system. Hopefully, I won't be one of the unlucky ones, but at least there's a 5 year warranty.
