I think the cheap tickets are worth it for certain people. You still get a personal item and you can get a free carry on if you have their credit card. I don't mind sitting in a random seat. Or you can just ask to switch with someone. Airline food sucks anyways. If food and drinks matter that much to you, then bring your own.

For a 5 1/2 hour trip and gas prices now a days. I'd rather fly... if I can find a similar deal.

Gas price is $4 per gallon. Is it worth driving there and back? your thought?

And most likely will be middle seats unless you pay $22 each way and up for seat assignments.

Never ever fly with United Airlines again. Like Spirit Airlines, they will try to take every dime you have for the trip. You have to pay $30/checked bag each trip, and $30/trip to select your own economic seat. No free meal is given. You have to pay for your own snacks and soon you will need to pay for your own non-alcoholic drink other than ice water. So, always add at least $120 to their round trip fare and compare it with other airlines.

I just had my flight with United Airlines delayed because their plane failed maintenance. I ended up spending twice the time traveling because they had to fly us to Houston first to get an unnecessary connection. It's all go though because they offered everyone on the flight a $75 voucher on their $1000 flight! Not my first negative experience with them! Do yourself a favor and avoid United Airlines!

It takes 3 hrs for a flight when you factor in airport wait, car rental.

Although it would great if AA matched this from PHX-IAH to send UA a message..

Not sure why this is a deal. My folks flew from Houston to LA for $111 last week with the same airline and class.
