I have a V1 and it is an excellent tool for reminding me to go the speed limit.

I have gotten line of sight-obstructed laser bounce alerts, well before CHP had a direct/clear line of sight. So no, it won't jam laser but to say it won't add awareness to the situation while you can still react is foolish.

As for PD sitting/driving with it on:

This tool helps if PD is pulled over for an incident around a blind corner with their K band on to, alerting motorists monitoring the waves, well before you can see the lights.

Oh it also works great when they are working up behind you at excessive speed. Particularly if you are on some weird state highway that has many sets of lights spanned out and there is a cop pushing thru the light patterns from well behind your pack, and gapping up to your pack. The signal strength pattern is easily identifiable, even without V1 arrows or counter.

It also helps if you are in a bum fark area that drops from 65 -> 45 -> 35 abruptly and there is someone patiently waiting to light em up on an unsuspecting motorist. (The Death Valley surrounding area has a few of these and I bet they print their own money from foreign tourists off this)

I wouldn't go off the deep end and spend 500+ on just a detector, but I would get a reputable model at good value, if I didn't already have one, any day of the week. This is a vital tool for next level driving awareness, don't be aloof, especially if it can cost you $$$.

I wonder how accurate these devices are, as I've had cheaper models that go off false alarm excessively to the point of being unusable.
Currently relying on Waze traffic/police reports, would anyone still recommend using one of these?

you mean R3? if you are talking about old dfr3, then dfr9 is much better.
If you are talking about R1/R3, R1/R3 are slightly better in range but not much.

This and the R3 are fantastic. High quality. Long range.
This R1 has saved me from multiple tickets.
I commute 2 hours each day (quickly).
Grab this R1 or the R3 and you'll be set.

Is that commute on wide open roads, or with PD hiding? Trying to get back to the BSM question

This is for a DFR9, not a R1....
