Developers are generally getting fat checks for these deals. Epic is essentially buying you games out of their marketing budget.

Free game giveaways are in an interesting vortex. This one has been offered by GoG as an incentive for spending a certain amount on games during a sale. Some Twitch monthly giveaways also started out as singular freebies on the platform.

Hope the developers are getting something out of the deal. Hope platforms continue to offer variety.

Interesting. The 'exclusivity' deals with Epic also add a wrinkle as well.

Well, there's that, and also the Epic sale is working very differently than Steam sales do as well. Developers usually agree to the pricing and accept the lower prices for Steam sales, but Epic's sale is entirely funded by them, they're giving the developers the same cut of the game sales they would get at full price.

Epic is injecting a *lot* of money into the game industry right now to enter the market, and I think it's a great thing for PC gaming.

Agree. Choices and alternatives are everything.

Haven't bought a paid Epic game, though I'm getting tempted. I like GOG as I can have multiple device installs and less 'dialing out' for connectivity. Less trainers and cheats work with GOG however. Steam also works great offline as well. Almost all of my Origin purchases were via Steam, or a giveaway. Twitch, just because.

For those that are wondering if the game is fun or not. Without spoiling, I can tell you it's just a sad, sad story. The platform is decent, controls are a bit awkward at first. There is no fighting involved, you're pretty much just platforming and 'enjoying' the story line. It took me about 6 hours to complete back on the PS4 with a guide on puzzles. Probably more if you're going through the game blind.

Mind sourcing? What is "a lot"?

Got it, played it, really liked it. Hit me right in the feels. Wasn't too insanely difficult, didn't mind some of the puzzle ideas repeating, loved the visuals, but the story got me. Last level started to open my eyes, then got me thinking about the other levels, then got me wondering about what those levels meant, then the end hit and confirmed it. Worth the time.
