I bought some Vigoro this year and the color was gone after the first rain. Seems to be very common amongst the reviews from this year. Bought this 3 years ago and it was much better (although I still prefer the bulk triple shred if I am doing a job big enough to validate the cost).

Where is this posted? I checked their ads and only see the ad that's through 22 May, which doesn't make any mention of this deal. I know it's not live yet, but usually they have a flyer or something in advance of this sale. I haven't seen anything so far from Lowe's.

How does this compare to the Scott's Nature Scapes that's currently on sale for $2.50?

My wife buys 60 bags every year when the Lowes is $2/bag. She got Scotts one year and said it was crap.

This year we are going to try spraying dye on the less important parts. Hope it works!

This deal is 2.00, so if you paid 2.50, it may be the first time it has hit 2.00 this year.

Usually once they get all the stores fully stocked they run this deal. To answer the other question I saw, in the past I have always bought it online and used the coupons you can get, (Google if you don't know)

I don't need as many this year as the past few years, thus stuff holds up pretty well. Each year I add 33% less than the previous year and have built a great base and mostly do it for color at this point.

Pro tip: if you can buy it online and Dont need it right away, you can pick it up whenever provided its still in stock, but I have seen the wait on a Saturday or Sunday at my store be an hour. So if you don't think they'll run out and can pick it up Monday when the sale is over you can cruise up and load the truck and get out of there in ten min.

This stuff is absolute junk. You may as well just throw garbage in your garden beds. It will turn dull gray after 1-2 rains and then disintegrate quickly. Don't kid yourself into thinking you're getting a great deal I used to work at Home Depot corporate and I assure you the margin on these "Deals" is still very good at $2/bag. This is not a deal.

How about the preen weed preventing one?

I would only use this if you are going to top dress with a higher quality mulch from a local garden or landscaping store. We can get 2 years out of the mulch (delivered or bagged) from our local garden store vs just 1-2 months of this big box stuff.
