Good price but I saw lots of people saying they got refurbished headphones rather than new. I think I'll pass

Is mass genie one of those sites where it won't ship for a couple weeks?

I have the first gens and honestly I have nothing but good things to say about these.. really could not survive work without it.

I was torn between these and the QC35s and just ended up grabbing the QC35s to replace my old QC15s. I ultimately went with the 35s because I know the ear pads are replaceable and from my understanding the Sony's are not replaceable... I am in airports/airplanes weekly so I use noise canceling headphones often and replaced the qc15 ear pads annually.... if not for that I would have gone with the Sony's

I have had my gen one for atleast two years and the pads are soft and comfortable as ever. I wear them on average about 6 hours a day because I work full time and am also studying for my license and couldn't do it at work without the noise cancelation lol.
I was between these Sonys, QC35, and some $250 sennheisers, and Beats. I bought them all and tried them all for a week and ended up keeping these Sonys. I think the sound quality is far superior than the Bose which sounded really flat to me (I think it's a good headphone if you listen to acoustic music, but 95% of what I listen to are rap and EDM). And the noise cancelation of my gen 1 was just slightly worse than the qc35 but it was nothing that you could really tell difference unless you compared them side by side like I did..
Did you try these headphones out by any chance before buying your qc35?

That- and Sony is one of the companies that actually conditions their MFG warranty on buying from an authorized dealer- so no warranty from them on these- and no extended warranty from your credit card either.

I have tried the Sony XM3s and agree about the sound quality being a tad better, I really don't listen to much rap.... I appreciate the response regarding the ear pads holding up but I am going to stick with the 35s, I have had great luck with the durability of Bose headphones in the past, my QC15s are still going strong but it was time to upgrade after probably 8 or more years with the QC15s..... now I am more concerned with the battery in these headphones not being replaceable so I doubt I'll get 8 + years out of these... if the mx3s go under $200 I'll probably pick up a pair anyway as a backup or something

I don't trust that reseller and saw a lot of reviews as well that buyers were getting used headphones instead. One person actually got a unit with hair stuck on it. hahaha

I am in if BestBuy would PM Massgenie. Anyone have luck with BB doing that?

I had the XM3's for a week or so and the left ear clicked every time I would move. It was a ticking noise almost as if there were plastic parts rubbing together, but I never could completely diagnose it. I searched google for the issue and it's a pretty common issue. Needless to say it was a deal breaker, so I returned them. Not sure if Sony has fixed the issue, but just wanted to give a heads up for potential buyers.

I have the XM3's and they are incredible. So much better than the Bose QC25's I used to have.

That's not true anymore. I have chatted with their CS, as long as it is new with proof, you can register it for warranty now.

I mean, here's the link to the current warranty that says it's true.

https://www.sony.com/electronics/...91061M.pdf

that's the warranty on these.

Quote from The actual warranty :
This limited Warranty does not cover products purchased from sources other than Sony or a Sony authorized dealer
This seller is not an authorized dealer AFAIK- so you will get zero warranty if that is the case.

But if you prefer the word of the level 1 support rep to the written legal document, that's your call.

I just bit the bullet. I still have doubts, but I have a trip coming up.
