This is a great deal for a solar charging collapsible lantern. It has never been this low. This sells on Amazon right now for $43 and is reviewed 4 stars.

Woot has it for $13 with free shipping for Amazon Prime customers or $6 shipping for non customers.

Runs for 50 hours on a single charge on low setting.

Cool concept. Nice discount.
Buuuut:
1. Never expect those tiny solar panels on these products to really charge the device. Maybe a top off or Armageddon level emergency, but it probably would take forever.
2. They mostly show it being used at dusk? The light output is probably pretty low. claims 150 lumens but with a 50 hour run time claim as well I'm a bit dubious.

You make two very valid points. I just want to provide additional information for both points so others are informed.

1. It does list a 12-14 hour charge time from empty to full which is believable/respectable for the 2000mah battery in the unit. However I still agree with you that you should use solar when you are in a bind.

2. The 150lumen rating is for high which is a much lower run time. The 50+ hrs is for when the light is on nightlight mode which is very little light.

Why is this listed as "Non Phone Charging" when it includes a USB port?

I have one of these and it's pretty nice for a camping light or emergency lantern. I leave mine on a window sill and it gets enough sun during the day that I've never had the battery die on me when I've needed to use it.

There are two versions of this Max model. One has both USB A to charge a phone and Micro USB to charge the lantern. The second one only has Micro USB to charge the lantern which is the version that is being sold here.

To recharge the lantern itself from a USB power source, I would imagine.

I have the lower output, non-USB model and these things are amazing. They produce a useful amount of light, pack down to a very compact size and weigh next to nothing. I've actually found the integrated solar cell to be quite effective at recharging mine during the day. But perhaps the solar charging to battery storage equation is different for these higher light output models. The idea of using the solar cell on the Phone Charging model to recharge a cell phone does strike me as a cruel joke however.

These things are ideal for extended backpacking or bike trekking trips, where space and weight are at an absolute premium. They can be clipped to a pack and recharge all day, followed by a few hours of usage at camp each night.

$13 does seem like a pretty good price.

Yup! This was featured on shark tank. The company is doing fairly well after that. It's a simple concept but very practical. This price is rare. I bought one for camping.

I am happy for the ones who were able to get it. I knew this would sell out because the price was just so damn good.
