deal [adorama.com]

$800 + free s/h with code Memorial

Main difference between this and RX-2080 is that this unit has 1 year less of warranty. the rest, such as features, power, speaker support, components, as far as I can tell based off specs, is identical.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

I'm running 5.2.4 too. Are you running ceiling atmos speakers?

This one or the Denon 4500. I got that deal two days ago for Denon $599. $650 after tax. Should I pay a little more for this and sell that one? 🤔

If you don't have a brand preference and both have the features you need I would suggest going with the less expensive one.
Both have their pros and cons but you can't go wrong with either one.

You got a good deal. I would stick with the Denon. Don't have this model, but I got a Denon 3400 and I love it. Just as good as my Marantz sr6011. Have had my Denon about a year and no regrets. The 4500 is supposed to be great.

You aren't going to beat that denon for $599. That was a clear price mistake.

Is 5.2.4 better from your experience than 7.2.2? I feel like content wise there's more mixed in 7.1 than atmos. As time goes on and atmos is everywhere yours is probably the better setup

I don't know. But i know it's alot better than 5.1. you don't gain much with 7.1 unless your room is big. My room is not big enough for 7.1.. i think it's the same for most people.

But you have 2 subs and not big enough for 7.1? The guy above has 3? This has me thinking about experimenting with another sub then. Hmmm thanks guys.

Well a lot depends on your set up and your speakers on how well Atmos performs. In my experience, basically the more you can follow Dolby's Reference recommendation with reference speakers the better.
If not a good 5.1 or 7.1 would most likely be better than the "alternative" Atmos.

Well some people believe more subs the better period. Placement is crucial to get the best performance from your sub(s).
Finding the right place for one and dial it in can be challenging, for two even more so.
In most cases one good sub placed correctly and dialed in is plenty.
Every situation/layout and person is unique so take this for what it's worth.
