Lorex sets the bar for the absolute worst customer service known to man. Don't let those cameras ever require you to call them. Their service "team" seems like a one man operation requiring you to, first, call in to their service line and leave a message. The next step is to wait till whenever they decide to call you back, if ever. No exaggeration.

Can someone comment on this vs putting a Wyzecam outdoors, for someone for whom ethernet wiring isn't an option?

Questions:
- Since it has microSD card, I'm assuming this is recording 24/7 (rolling), correct? Not just on motion dection?

- How is the Lorex Secure app? Can I set motion zones in the frame? Is the free plan comparable to the features you get with Wyze? Need to be able to get good phone alerts and also review recorded footage smoothly.

- It seems obvious, but this does not require a DVR right?

- Tinycam/RTSP compatible?

Wyze cam solution requires good power cables/adapters and outdoor housing, making cost difference negligible.

So all 5 thumps up , is it for the pricing or product? Half the time I can't tell why they thumb up when all I read is negative crap about the product.

This might not be full answer, but in short Wyze is much better to use.

i have similar Lorex model 4MP. Same spec outdoor WiFi. I was impressed with the Tech Spec on Lorex cam at $$ price. However, their Mobile Android app is worse compared to Wyzecam. Lorex app is very slow, if it takes more time to load, then it will not even connect and show error- Fail to load.

I installed at Front door, but notification after detecting motion is delayed atleast 30sec to 1min. Even after notification, it takes way long to navigate to playback the event. By the time you watch video, it is too late. Since, I have installe on brick wall, i am not removing it. But, it is just there.

I tried $20 Wyze, which has much better mobile app and instant clip playback with lot of other featues which are reliable and WORKS. Even if Wyze is not 4MP, it will still win because that is usable.

Pretty much oevery 1-2month interval software update on Wyze. Lorex might be fixing issues once a year app update.

I would not use Lorex even if it is given free. It is not practically usable.

Yeah, I saw a previous post about these Lorex cameras and it looks like it's not worth the bother. For someone not running their own NVR software is gonna be much more important, and so far I've been impressed enough at Wyze's app development.

Thanks!

Previous deal showed model FXC33V priced at $39.99. Looks similar so I don't know the difference between the two models

I'm not interested in cloud subscription plans. Will the camera function through it's native app or with Tinycam without subscription plans?

Not when I had it. Everything was proprietary through the Lorex app. No go with Tinycam.

OK. But did you have to pay a subscription fee to monitor using their app? I understand that to save video, it has the local memory card or cloud subscription fees. I would be using this to mostly just monitor from their app. I think it's called the FLIR app.

Checked on their product page, looks like it doesn't support rtsp or onvif,

What a shame, such a nice wide angle high resolution camera, suffer from it poor cloud/mobile app, could be used by NVR.

anyway as a wifi cam, the 4MP is overkill and actually kills the wifi as it sucks too much bandwidth requiring strong signal. This is probably why their mobile/cloud slow performance.

No fee for monitoring with their app.
