Interested to hear what folks have to say about this. We're looking at replacing a Samsung CLP-315W that's slow, loud, expensive and hit-or-miss when it comes to basic functionality like, you know, printing.

Any SD'ers have comments on reliability? Quality? Cost/flexibility of replacement toner?

Canon printers are pretty solid. I have had a MF8580cdw for years and it is still going strong. Toner is expensive though. I've tried generic toner and just had too many problems with it, so I go with oem. This one is nice because it does single pass duplex for scanning. I would love to have that feature but can't justify replacing mine just to get that.

Got this last Christmas, it's awesome. The printer speed and quality is amazing. Toner seems to last quite a long time, my starter toner is at 80% full and I've done quite a bit of printing. I would highly recommend this printer. Only downside is it's super heavy, but it's a high-quality laser printer, it's what you get.

Do you know of any good(works well) generic toners for this particular model?

How/where much do you pay for OEM?

I'm still working on the starter toner that came with the printer, so I have no first-hand experience, but I've heard good things about this toner:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07B93P...4CbN4RVFES

FYI this printer is also $279.99 at Amazon

OE High capacity toner is 138 for 6300 pages, or 2.19 cents per page

I'm curious as well though I assume the "sub-100" is not going to happen! Just looking for a good deal on a color laser printer (don't need AIO)

You should shop around on Craigslist or your Facebook marketplace for a good deal. Printers have terrible resale value so if you aren't a business owner/heavy user you can just snag a high quality printer (MSRP >$200) for around $30. It's probably years old, but the more expensive printers are built to last forever. I got the Brother 9130CW printer for $20!

Do not throw away your old carts if it starts printing very faint!!!!

It auto resets to low quality/ save toner after a few months. Change the settings back to normal print. I threw away good carts because I thought they were emptyMadMadMadMad
as the new ones did the same thing until I changed the settings.

BTW the Canon phone app for print is awesome.

I have a older model and I hate it, it falls off network, it's warms up for 10 mins before printing. It's really annoying.
