FYI, these devices were released in June 2016 as a niche product so there is the possibility of less-than-fresh batteries if you get some old stock.

They contain a *15mm* thick drive (8MB WD Blue, PMR-type at time of original release), so although they are shuckable, there will likely be fitment issues. I'd only grab one of these if you're really planning on using it for its wireless drive purposes.

The 2TB SSD is $738. This is $58! At this price, I'll try one!

Not really a great product. The new SSD version is way worth it though.

Was just about to post this, but was doing my own research first. This is a great setup for Plex if you know what you're doing. Great as well for taking pics and dumping them on your drive asap. Going to use this to stream movies for the kids on the go which for this price you cannot beat for the sanity as well.

Good call on the battery. I agree, good price if you want the wifi capability. Can't personally think of an exceptional use needing that function. I have network drives at home, not sure where I'd need to use this portably.

Consider ordering the used one for this product, 1: it's cheaper, and 2: it's more likely to not get cancelled.

Cancelled after reading some reviews and thinking about how I was going to use this drive.

I was only going to use this to backup SD cards from my camera on trips, but then I realized that I have multiple large SD cards (128GB, 256GB), so I really don't need to back up and format the cards anymore. Those days are gone.

Also, the chances of this mechanical drive failing with all your images/videos is higher than a SD card failing when it's not being used, so that was another consideration in not using this drive for that purpose and just carrying additional SD cards.

The wireless file serving/plex server/etc. could be useful in some scenarios, but I just don't need that functionality.

The 4TB passport is a pretty good deal at $55 though. Ordered one of those for photo backup.

What's with Amazon and all these unreal HDD deals Sunday morning?? Not complaining but really curious if this is a pricing error on Amazon's part.

I wish this would work to use for Nintendo Switch games. My sd card is always full.
