nice update. did the same. luckily saw this right after z2 play order and cancelled that. not sure if its worth $80 more than z2 play but hoping it is. especially with the alexa mod. anyone know if the original z droid wireless batt mod fit this?
All the mods fit all the phones. I have a Z3 Play now and still use the wireless battery mod that came with my Z Droid and it still works great.

Reps to anyone who can answer these.

will this phone be unlocked automatically upon purchase for other carriers? Can I cancel service after getting the phone for $24 without some sort of extra fees? I would like to bring this to my free sprint coverage.

can I $120 use the
- one-time payment (select 'Activate Today') + $40 Activation/Upgrade Fee = $160 + tax

then call and cancel the account right away? do I need to pay the $40 activation fee?

Thanks OP
I remember doing something similar with the s7e. I just ported out before 3 days and I was prorated. I remember someone said that they did something to prevent that and it would be after 14 days. Maybe some one can correct me.

thanks. now to figure out between z2 force or z3. i didnt realize the z3 was a screen downgrade (as posted earlier in comparison specs). but z3 looks better with 18:9 lesser bezels. so z3 it is.

Same question as the ten other people who have not been answered, what's the least I can pay and get this for my current carrier?

After having both, I think the Z3 is a screen upgrade. Sure it's lower resolution at only 1080p, but the high screen:body ratio is so nice. I also personally prefer the gorilla glass to the shattershield screen: it's easier to apply a screen protector and keep it looking pristine.

Quick summary after having several Moto Z, Moto X4, and other SD835 phones. I feel like this is Moto's sweet spot: one-year-old sd8xx CPU (at release) for a solid discount in a carrier store. I'd prefer unlocked, but carriers are where the masses go to get a new phone.

This phone is great except for a few things.
Pros
- Great, almost full-body screen. Reminds me of my S8. AMOLED is great with the Moto Display
- Moto Actions (flashlight and camera) are all very nice, like on other Motos. Though, if the phone is locked it will launch the Moto Camera even if the GCam is the default. You need to unlock it first.
- Verizon bloat is much less pushy that AT&T. After using the AT&T Z2 Force, I much prefer this Z3
- The Camera is good enough, but still not amazing. I usually take a few duplicates on the good chance that a couple aren't fully clear. I found the GCam apk for the Z2 Force also works and was better than the Z3 GCam apk.
- Still works with Moto Mods, so if you find any more sales on the batteries, speaker, or projector they are pretty useful or at least fun.
- The Z3 works just fine on several carriers without unlocking. I've used it on Mint Mobile, Cricket, Simiple Mobile, and now Total WIreless. I even get visual voicemail on Total WIreless.

A few notable cons
- WIth the side fingerprint reader, they removed the ability to re-lock the phone with the FP reader. Previous models had this when it was front-facing and I miss that feature.
- They moved the power button to the opposite side. When you use the speaker mod, it is now resting on the power button. If you set it down gently, it's fine, but I've accidentally restarted my phone several times...and don't even think about changing the volume without picking it up.
- While on Total Wireless, if I ever drop down to a 3G connection it will not bump back up to a 4G connection until I restart my phone. Calls, texts, and data still work, but it is a pretty big pain. I'm not sure my parents would have ever figured it out and just struggled through it.

Good deal for a nice phone.

I've selected $120 onetime payment and $35 plan in bestbuy site, but it is charging $20/m/p device payment + $40 Activation fees. I thought if you pay one time payment, there is no device payment.

That's not true at all. I have t-mobile and just popped my Sim in. No problem
I have used it for all the various providers. On default setting (CDMA) or automatic, it does not quite use the GSM or similar as simply as the other truly unlocked cellular phones. The other source of irritation is the Verizon junk apps... Having used Pixel 2 and 3, a pure unlocked and without the nonsensical apps of the various cell phone providers have been truly pleasant. This Z3 is Verizon - and you will be reminded of the Verizon origin constantly...
