I just bought the 40V ryobi self propelled. Have used it twice. Works well. Finishes my front and back lawn with either 1 or 2 dots left on the battery.

Wished they would pass a law to make all batteries rated in KWH rather than AH. It confuses many consumers because not all amp hours are equivalent depending on voltages.

Be aware the 4.0 is a bit heavier than the 2.0 & 2.5 AH units. Might be a factor for handheld tools like the string trimmer & hedge trimmer, fine for mower, snow thrower etc.

I bought a 21" Greenworks mower with 80v battery and charger for $250.
Seems a little high.
I believe I have the 2.0 batteries. I have two and I cut a large amount of back yard with one battery. Last about 35-45min I would say.

It would be far more confusing not knowing the voltage and amp hours. if you want to know power, just multiply the two numbers. This 80V 4AH battery will contain qty 40 18650 lithium batteries and deliver 320WH of power. At 163.59, that's a bit expensive for my cell harvesting needs, but seems like a decent price if you use these greeenworks tools.

I have a mix of Greenworks and Kobalt. The insides are the same, but there are different rails to prevent the batteries from fitting. I modified my Greenworks trimmer to accept Kobalt batteries by using my Dremel to remove one of the plastic rails. Youtube has videos showing what needs to be done.

And this is great in my Greenworks mower. I am able to finish my lawn without switching batteries.

Buyer beware. I had a family member who bought one of these off Amazon and it failed with-in a year. The manufacturer refused to warranty it because they said the serial number was from a bundle and the seller had parted out the Tool and Battery and sold them individually.

Not sure why that matters for a warranty replacement of a failed unit but it tells me they don't stand by their products.

From Amazon

Q: Will this battery work with the kolbalt 80 volt tools... they look the same except for the color...

A: No. The slots in the battery sides are different. The batteries are not interchangable.

I wanna say something could be modified but dont remember

The batteries are compatible in that they will work, but their housing is slightly incompatible and you need to remove some plastic (and void your battery warranty) to make them fit. Vid for reference, it isn't too hard. https://youtu.be/C7KAbpDb2Q8

Not sure how that provides any info useful enough to warrant a law. Who compares 18v batteries to 40v batteries to 80v batteries? If I have an 18v tool, I'm going to compare AH among the 18v batteries. If I have 40v tool I'm going to compare AH among the 40v batteries.
