Curious on what basis (if any) that you say this.

They are incorrect. There is nothing wrong with casein and in fact I consider casein superior to whey in some ways. Basically the difference is just this: Whey = Fast digesting / Casein = Slow digesting
s/he was referring to the specific types of casein used in muscle milk. calcium caseinate is more processed/denatured while micellar casein is regarded as superior (and more expensive). the cheaper calcium caseinate is often used in these ready-to-drink products because not only are they cheaper, but easier to manipulate texture/taste (solubility), which is ideal for RTD's. i wouldn't say calcium caseinate is useless but i would prefer micellar casein or even milk protein isolate as the main ingredient (if going for slow digesting protein).

in terms of casein vs whey...casein is much slower digesting causing sustained increase in plasma amino levels (anti-catabolic) but doesn's spike protein synthesis as much. also, it has lower bioavailability and BCAA compared to whey. if i had to choose only one, i would choose whey, but these differences are relatively insignificant in the whole scheme of things.

I've moved on to that new fairlife protein drink BJs now carries. 150 cals, 30G protein. I think they still have an in-store coupon that makes it roughly $13 per case of 16.

It's $14 for a case of 12 currently. I bought 2 when it was $12. It's very tasty.
Bought one of these, will see how it compares.

Cute. What a out this?

Consumer Reports says these products are of special concern:

Muscle Milk chocolate powder, at three servings, contained all four of the metals, and three metals were found at a level that was among the highest of all 15 products tested. Cadmium levels were 5.6 micrograms -- above the 5-microgram limit. Lead was 13.5 micrograms -- above the USP limit of 10 micrograms. The arsenic averaged 12.2 micrograms -- near the 15-microgram daily USP limit.

Muscle Milk vanilla crème had 12.2 micrograms of lead per three servings -- above the 10-microgram daily limit. It has 11.2 micrograms of arsenic -- close to the 15-microgram daily limit.

Be careful if you're allergic to artificial sweeteners, this contains acesulfame potassium.

The deal from last week is still valid....tastes great and I just ordered four more cases: https://slickdeals.net/f/13069261-12-count-11oz-orgain-grass-fed-clean-protein-shake-creamy-chocolat...
Thanks. Last time I consumed acesulfame potassium I died.
