okay. so I screwed up. it's a terrible post. Anyone want to be kind enough to tell me WHY it's terrible or HOW i screwed up? especially if you expect me to learn from it. I mean, you can't just say someone did something wrong, unless you take the time to tell them what exactly you consider right. Because, I do believe by the little window I followed the guidelines for the post, yes? So please. Enlighten me for my future posts Wink
2 pointers for next time:
1) Don't use the words price mistake unless the price is so ridiculously low and below both normal price and every other merchants price that you'd mortgage your house without blinking to grab as many as you can.
2) Before posting an Amazon deal, check urlhasbeenblocked to see historical price for the item. If item is about same price as it usually is, don't bother posting, even if it says 90% off MSRP. MSRP on Amazon (and in general) is baloney, and isn't a real benchmark. Only relevant benchmark is how much percent lower than the usual price or the other reliable merchants an items price is.

I'm still salty about missing the $80 10TB HDDs.

@OP: $130 for 8TB and $160 for 10TB are the new "regular sale prices". Even before today, the 10TB drives had been briefly available for as low as $140.

My friend, let's forget about formatting and how your post was. The big issue at hand is the prices are not slick and are actually rip off prices. The drives can be had at better prices any day of the week. The one this morning was a super slick deal and that is an honorable post, not just in the formatting but also in the amazing *price mistake* pricing. The bottom line is a ton of deal alerts went off on your post and the prices truly suck. The main think you need to understand about SD is what makes a certain item a slick deal. You need to understand historical prices and what the going rate is; This is critical in posting here. Do a price check for this item and make sure the ones you are comparing are the exact same model, type, color, etc. For an apples to apples comparison. Learning prices is I believe the number one thing to learn if posting on Slickdeals. I never post deals because of this. Prices change so frequently, you really have to be on top of your game. Good luck!! The effort is appreciated 👍
Well damn. That I didn't know. I wasn't aware manufacturers on amazon or resellers or whatever are listing prices for retail and then the actual sale price, and that amazon is allowing that to be posted as a discounted price, rather than the fact that it's not a discount, but a "savings from MSRP". Unfortunately that wasn't made clear ever. That's pretty farked up. The post right below yours actually mentioned a site, keepa? Not familiar with it, but something tells me i need to go check it out and figure out how to be familiar with it. Unfortunately, I don't have enough money regularly for wasting to justify learning all the prices, so I guess I'll just need to be more diligent about how I check things before I post them.

Either way, thank you everyone for the useful information that gave me some Wink It's very appreciated. Definitely achieves more than the people just looking to attack me for it. hahah

Easiest thing you can do is check the prices right here on Slickdeals by using the search function. It's free and a good tool not just for posters but also people like me who want to see how slick an actual deal is. Lots of tools out there but this is the best place to get started. It is a literal database for prices and how good or bad a deal is depending on how many hits it gets. I got my start here on SD by accident. Look up HP Touchpad and you will see one of the biggest fire sales ever. All the veterans here will know exactly what I'm talking about;-)

1. You used the phrase "price mistake" probably triggering thousands of users' deal alert for that phrase, thus wasting their time because this is obviously NOT a price mistake.

2. Not even a good price.

3. We just got a bunch of insanely low priced deals for external storage (10TB for $80) so probably a bunch of us just don't see storage deals the same waym
