I am debating the same, seems like a cheap way to get the cabinet prebuilt and then just update with better hw.
I think these are shorter and kind of require you to sit. Sorry if I'm wrong about that.

In summary, each comment from an actual owner says well worth $75, many seeming to have repeat purchases. Comments from those who do not own one claim not worth it.

I'm considering it. Quick notes - the cabinet itself is poor quality, small, and the controls must be replaced, they're that bad. Break in a week and bad experience until then.

But it's $75 and you don't have to build it yourself. I've asked someone to pick one up if they're near Walmart today.

The screen and speaker can be used with an RPi if you get the right adapters. A conversion would add ~$130 to the cost, plus some time. Would include amp for speaker, adapter for screen, power supply, RPi, cooling case, and PSU for that. Two new joysticks and a handful of buttons.

Lots of drilling for new controls. Some minor rewiring, no soldering or very little. End up with a cut-rate MAME cabinet for ~$200. It won't look/feel/play as good as a $400+ cabinet - but it's half the price and a quarter of the labor.

Flip side - just use the RPi with a real TV or projector and use that money for other things. Or bills.

I click on all the links and none of them have this 75$ price... Am I missing something?
Its YMMV as to which Walmart locations have the $75 price. You do have to search bricckseek with your ZIP to see prices at your local Walmarts If you did that then your Walmarts do not have it discounted that low and you're probably not missing anything.

I really want to build a MAME cabinet. Should I get one of these or try to find an old cabinet I can retrofit?

depending on your market this is a terrible buy to convert to a mame cabinet. This cabinet in particular with the spinner controller and arcade 1up in general with the smaller size. End of the day you are unlikely to be happy if you want a full arcade experience. It takes a fair bit of work to do a full conversion and it is still going to be small, a little tight for two players, etc.

check craigslist first for a unit in someones garage. A lot of that has dried up, but you are going to be much happier with something that has a jamma harness and is full size.

at 75 bucks you can roll the dice, but you need to keep expectations in check.

For those pointing out they think these are small, they are. These cabinets are 45.8 inches tall (3/4th scale) and although they are good for sitting, you'll need a riser to stand unless you're very short or buying for a child. Don't know why shills always down vote anyone pointing this out. It's good information to have for buyers, just in case you aren't aware and don't want to be surprised.

I have 10 of these machine ranging in price from Over $ 300 to $ 150 at walmart last week. They are well built little machines and if you get the risers for $35 you have a bargain. I use them in my medical office where they are pretty well beaten on all day long and after a year they are still holding up. I used to buy full size arcade machines for thousands and they were no more fun than these. I would give you a thumbs up at $75 and I will buy the available ones as spares.
In addition ---
My son put a MAMSI emulator in it with different controllers and sound system and now his has a 1000 games and sounds great for another $200 .

Super tempting. Though I would vastly prefer the Pac-Man, Street Fighter, or MKII models simply because they were the games I played most at the arcade as a youngster. The question is if it is worth it to gamble on waiting for one of those to go on clearance around here if I only have money and space for one. I'm likely modding it so I'd mostly want it for the cabinet aesthetic.
