This hit on the alert I posted looking for XPS 15 laptops. A model with only 1920x1080 (non-touch) 16GB RAM, 1050Ti, 512Gb NVme, is still $1,400.I don't have a great reference for where these are normally priced, but that seems really high still.

Normal price is $1700.

There's also a $50 off coupon you can use, as well as 10% cb.

Check out the Dell Outlet. Same unit refurbished is only $1265, current coupon is 14% off which brings price to $1087. Great deal for a great laptop. Just remember to undervolt. 🙂

The XPS 15 9570 is riddled with issues that dell has failed to fix, and has also had the config with 512gb ssd, 16gb ram, 1080p screen at $1141 before too. Also ignoring cashback. So not a great deal there.

The New XPS 13 is $979. Is that a good deal?

As long as you aren't buying Intel chip computers... https://www.engadget.com/2019/05/...abilities/ you know with the most recent 4 vulnerabilities patches dropped performance by up to 16%, and Google and Apple recommending to turn off hyper threading which will drop another 40-50% performance, don't see any good reason to touch Intel processors for the foreseeable future.

Seconded. Research before you buy... I would skip this gen.

Agreed. If looking for an XPS specifically they're supposed to be announcing the 9580 next month. I had a 9570 and found the thermals to be abysmal. Hopeful for the 9580 to improve that but we'll see.

I have a 9570 I bought recently, haven't used it much. But it's pretty damn slow considering what's in it so I regret buying it. Wish I got the LG Gram 17" instead. Sigh...

I don't get why the XPS 13 and 15 are so hyped?
I had the XPS 13 for a couple weeks, didn't feel all that special, materials-wise or speed-wise, or functionality-wise or anything.
Now I'm on a cheapo $400 Inspiron 5482 2in1 and it feels just as fast. Less than half the price for an extra pound of weight, I'll take it.

Just bought XPS 15 4k and I've had many software issues such as speaker popping, Intel GPU causing lag, etc. Hardware issues such as overheating, coils whining, loose touchpad. Inner laptop material leaves much to be desired given that you're paying 2k premium laptop.
