It's more than just being smaller with this newer model. Here's a basic comparison between the 2018 9.7 iPad 6th Gen and 2019 iPad Mini https://www.phonearena.com/phones...1157,10852

Some brief examples:
- iPad Mini 2019 has the hexa-core A12 CPU that's in the 2018 iPhone XR, Xs, Xs Max.
- iPad 6th Gen has the quad-core A10 CPU that's in the 2016 iPhone 7 and 7 Plus.
- iPad Mini 2019 - 3GB RAM; iPad 6th Gen - 2GB RAM
- iPad Mini 2019 has what Apple calls a "True Tone display [pocket-lint.com]"

Also, very broadly speaking (I'm no engineer or anything), but packing technology into a smaller package (i.e. making components smaller) is more expensive to manufacture. Furthermore, Apple knows there's a demand for this form factor and it's either this or the older iPad Mini 4 that has the same A8 CPU as the 2014 iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, so it comes down to marketing as well as including their latest technology in this newer Mini.

Placed my order on Monday (May 20, 2019) and it arrived yesterday (May 22, 2019). I was pretty skeptical due to the low number of reviews for the seller, but it definitely seems legit.

Checked my serial number on Apple's site and the warranty lasts until May 22, 2020 (a year from now, as expected), so from what I can tell, it's definitely new and not a pre-owned product repackaged as new.

I ordered 2, one silver and one space gray. Arrived today via USPS Priority well packed. New units with unregistered warranty, they will register on activation. Purchased with Citi card so 3 year warranty without having to buy AppleCare. Nice deal, very surprised it did not sell out.

I bought from them in the past and had excellent reusults, fast shipping with brand new sealed items as promised.
The seller has 3 reviews, all good but its a little low, I would never buy a product like this from a seller with so few reviews on eBay, i'm not sure why an exception should be made here.

With that said, I don't know much about rakuten dispute resolution policy, so I can't speak to how much of a risk it actually is if a seller were to say take your money and run.

I bought one from Adorama last weekend. No tax on CA still for 405 shipped. It's $38 more but kept the order for peace of mind in case I need to use credit warranty and they deny due to flaky seller. I used Chase Ink extended warranty and got a check for $480+ when an iPad pro (from Staples) bought September 2017 started random restarts in March this year.

I hate buying from third-party. You never know you might get a refurbished product that's been repackaged and seal to look new

You can check the serial with Apple to see if it's still got the one-year warranty
