Typical Acer - good value for solid specs but old school bezel and body. Worthwhile trade off for people who don't need much portability

If you prefer an IPS screen and better graphics card for $100 more, I just bought this similar Acer Swift 3 model for $600 pre-tax.

Is this a TN panel (as it does not advertise it as IPS)?
Appears no mention of backlit keyboard.
Just looking for data points.

Acer just seems to call this display a "Comfyview" to hide the fact that it is a TN panel.

Yeah I saw that and figured they meant that it was anti-glare. That is also what an Acer thread major contributor claims here: https://community.acer.com/en/dis...-comfyview

I found this review on cnet that does specify it is a TN panel.

2-Cell Li-Polymer Battery ---- is that like 1 hour of battery life? They might as well put in an AAA battery instead.

Can't tell total battery capacity by cell #, for these types of batteries. Because they don't have standard battery capacity per cell, or many standards so you don't know which without knowing capacity per cell or them giving the cell spec.s.
Cell # is almost useless alone. Except for battery types where the capacity is standard.

The reliable units are for full battery capacity are:
WHr (WattHour),
or (m)AHr * V (AmpHour * Volt).
Next, not full capacity units are:
(m)AHr (AmpHour).
Try to find these spec.s instead for the item (manufacturer, trustworthy reviewers & testers sites/organization's/people; & get familiar with typical battery capacity amounts & associated battery duration ("life").

I've seen battery options for same model laptop, where higher capacity battery had same cell #, or total cells for higher capacity battery had less capacity/cell than lower capacity battery which had higher capacity/cell.

I wish they would stop listing battery cell # only, & list useful spec.s instead. Then add cell #, optional (more cells can be safer, since failure can be more contained, like during an electric short, with less energy per cell compared to all in one cell).

1: how old is your son?
2: does he have a laptop or computer already?
3: would you consider getting a pen tablet instead if you answered yes to #2?
