So to get around this, we have two wifi routers. One has the Disney Circle connected to it, and that's what the kids devices connect to 100% of the time. The other is what we and other adults will connect to. So with this setup, Circle won't touch anything that's connected to the other router for parents/adults.

Being able to access the app, set profiles, set time limits, set on/off times for reading/homework, quickly add/remove devices from profiles is awesome. And the fact that my wife is able to do all of this without having to be tech savvy and can do it while I'm away is golden.

Example: She may need to quickly adjust the time internet devices turn off for reading/homework time because of an early dinner, she can do it within 10 secs from her phone. Then if she wants to set a later bed time due to the kids having a sleepover, she can quickly do that as well.

Each family is different though. To be able to do all this on the fly, change devices/profiles/filters within 10 seconds, and to get notifications that a kid has reached their time limit all for $24 has been a nobrainer for us.

I was on board until I read the top review, it sounds like the functionality has been limited, if the top review is to be believed:

Big fan of the Circle. This has helped our kids manage their Internet time and offers an easy way to filter things through the App. Love it for the fact that my wife can easily access and change things through her phone.

Personally, we may upgrade to the new Disney Circle Plus. Check out the following link for differences between the two: https://support.meetcircle.com/hc...-Home-Plus

Either way, $24 for the original/1st gen is a great price and a great way to get started if you want to set some parental controls on your kids devices and network activity.

Good price for this. I bought it a while ago for a bit more and it's very useful if you have kids. It also does what it says it does, I've had no issues. There is a second generation out, but I couldn't find what the differences are.

I have this, but unfortunately I have to turn it off. It is messing up my wifi connection after sometime and have to reboot my router.

I have had this since it came out pre-Disney. I tried all the software and hardware solutions and it's the only one that worked without having a ton of loopholes and workarounds (most of the software) but also without having to do a long setup and constant fiddling (other hardware). Got our kids from K through 7 opening things up little by little.

I recommend it to people all the time. At $24 it's a steal even if it looks like a new gen is coming.

That's gotta be defective. It doesn't do anything to wifi. It's just a gateway. I'd bother them - Circle has pretty good CS.

Wrong .... it uses ARP spoofing. Could have negative effects to internet speed. I personally would never use it, there are other ways to implement what Circle achieves.

It is really useful to manage kid's screen time. For 24 bucks, it is nobrainer.

Don't you need to buy a subscription for this to be useful? I feel like the subscription cost is going to be the deciding factor in purchasing, regardless of whether the box is $99, $24 or free.

This unit manages wifi or wired only. There is an option $5/month subscription for cellular data.

The new unit has a $10/month subscription for advanced features and for cellular management.

Apart from that I don't know of a difference, the 1st GEN unit works very well for me.

The cellular $5/month plan is not perfect, but the support from circle is very good.

At this price I would buy it again!!

Already use pihole with safe search upstream dns provider. Also have apple parental controls. Does this add anything to my setup?
