Apparently these are now illegal as of April 1 in NYS as they have a removable/replaceable battery 🙄

These smoke detectors are $5 each at Walmart. These are legal in HI, as long as the property was built before the wired ones were required.

So if you have multiple, they don't all go off due to the lack of wire?

Edit: per Amazon questions, it's confirmed they do not interconnect

These are great and this is likely the going price. I got two of them last week. They are cheap and functional. These are far more sensitive compared to ionization based model for fire/smoke detection.

It seems absurd that these are illegal in places. Like clearly it is better than nothing, which is probably the alternative in most cases.

Anyone have a rec for a smoke detector that doesn't go off when you just turn on a burner on the stove? seems like every detector i try is overly sensitive.
