Yes but that's irrelevant to people who have 3ds and not switch when online still works(and is free) and the game is just as playable control-wise with a stable framerate. Plus all the friends you register carry over to your switch.

I would go the sky3ds route. They are great products with good support and leave your 3DS intact. Do your research and don't try to use online features without a header from a real purchased game or N will ban your console though. As expensive as games are for it and how much shovel Ware exists on there, it really pays to be able to demo games before you waste money on a rip-off as N is notorious for doing. Like this probably perfectly fine game for example. I hated it but others enjoy it. I would've wasted 40 dollars to learn I hated it.
