Seems like a pretty decent deal...not the best it's been at the 799 price, but close.

https://www.adorama.com/lo34gk950fb.html

I've bought stuff from Adorama before with good success but I realize that they are NOT listed as an authorized reseller on LG's website (not sure why because Adorama claims they are an authorized reseller)...

I'm tempted...this is the monitor I want. Been hoping for another 800 deal but not sure if it'll get there anytime soon??

Would you recommend this over the Dell Alienware 34 inch?

I think so. The alienware is awesome too...but this has a couple key benefits that might be worth the extra 100 bucks. It is 144hz instead of 120hz. It also has freesync2...which could be argued either way. But with the new Nvidia drivers, freesync is attractive because you can use this monitor with Nvidia or AMD graphics cards...whereas a gsync monitor obviously requires that you stick with Nvidia cards.

I think those are the two main advantages. I've seen a few people say the LG looks slightly better than the alienware but that's probably fairly subjective.

Also, just noticed that you can get it through amazon from beach camera now and they definitely are an authorized dealer...

No game is going to reach 144hz at this resolution anyway. Other than eSports games. And let's be realistic, no one buys these monitors for eSports games.

Will CS:GO hit 144hz at this resolution? Also and I will say it again. I would think the LG VA panel that was $300 at Costco is a better deal for gaming.

This monitor comes damaged often. I ordered two from Amazon that arrived cracked. The styrofoam in the box isn't that great and the panel is near the front of the box. It is commonly shipped in a bigger box with no extra padding.

but it is an amazing piece of tech

that being said it's overpriced and this isn't much of a deal

True...at least currently. And I only have a 2070 right now and barely get about 110 fps on fortnite with all settings maxed.

However, I don't upgrade monitors often and tend to upgrade video cards much more often. So even though it's hard to hit 144hz right now, it will likely be much more attainable when I get my next video card...

So the 144hz is just a bit more future proofed...

Beware of the warranty from LG!

Adorama claims they're an authorized dealer, but LG has them blacklisted. I called LG to ask what this is about and they said you won't get a warranty on your LG product from Adorama.

I went with the Dell myself, for multiple reasons. With g sync built in with Dell I can use on older operating systems. I still hate Windows 10 personally. The brightness for me with the LG at 400 nit is actually a negative. I usually turn down the brightness on my monitors down to zero. The dells brightness is rated at 300 nits, but is actually a max of 270. So if you want a brighter monitor the LG is far superior. I like the design of the Dell as well with extra lighting underneath, and power button light. The nano tech on the LG from what I hear is great though, and makes a significant difference.

Overall frame rate of 120 to 144 Hz was a factor to me, but not enough to pick the LG. Warranty for the LG monitor is too low, only one year. Dell 3 years, and great customer service overall. And with both of these monitors, maybe with the LG a little more, you might encounter issues. Either when you first buy it, or a little further down the road. Tech on the LG especially is pretty new, and problems are likely to happen.

Dell is cheaper right now as well, with code and cash back, and making use of the gift card, knocks the price to about 600 before tax. Way better deal in my opinion. From the reviews I've seen, both are good monitors though. It just depends on the price difference and as mentioned above what features are most important to you.

I own this LG and had it and the Dell side by side for a little while. The refresh rate difference really isn't a big deal, but the panel tech and brightness of the LG won out for me. I doubt anyone would be disappointed in either display though if you are in the market for an ultra wide.
