This was the price of the Link 10 few weeks ago so this is much better deal and waterproof.

jbl is a well respected brand in a portfolio of audiophile brands. it's not top tier by any means, but it's very good. insignia is a big box house brand.

I have two link 10s, two 20s and the 300 and they all punch above their weight class

I just purchased one of these refurbs which I now need to return. Apparently a lot of these units just decide to stop responding to Google Assistant commands. You press the button on the top the four lights blink but the thing does not respond to anything you say. It is good sounding Bluetooth speaker for its size. I also had a problem where once I could not shut the speaker off and it wasn't even working as a Bluetooth speaker. I had to let it sit for a night until the battery ran all the way down. Search the internet there are a lot of problems with these speakers. It's a shame because they sound good. I have a link 300 which I really like the bass on that thing is incredible for such a small speaker. If you're going to dive into this make sure that you have a way to return it if you get a lemon. There is a good chance that the refurbs are from people who bought the thing at Best buy took it home found it not to work as described with Google Assistant and returned it. Then some idiot at JBL Boot it up and finds it boots and says now it's refurbished. It is unclear if the non responding issue is hardware or software.

Are those things still being sold? I have two Insignias and they work great, they have all the features of a Google Home but with Bluetooth as well. But I'd bet you fifty bucks that this JBL sounds a lot better, and then I'd use the fifty bucks I just won to buy it.

I bought it. Seems like a pretty good deal with 2 day shipping included. Next best price I could find was on Ebay for $80 shipped, for non refurbished. Most major retailers sell for about $100 it appears to me. Thank you for posting.

Google home/home mini also have Bluetooth.. but yeah I'd also bet the JBL sounds better than the Insignia. I have a Link 300 and it's great. It is worth noting that this is double the price of what the insignias sold at though.

I'm not sure if you're implying that this is not a refurb, but it is. Just an FYI for anyone that may have missed it in the description. Still a great deal and I'm in for one. Thanks, OP.

Does anyone know the sound quality of this one compared with Harman Kardon Invoke w/ Cortana?
Just got my Invoke last week and wondering if it is necessary to get this JBL one.

WOAH, YOU'RE RIGHT. Thanks for the tip, I never noticed because you have to go through the Home app to set it up on my Home Mini. Yeah the Insignias are dirt cheap, definitely worth the money if they're on sale. I bought two for $15 each. Insane deal, they have the same fuctionality as a Home with slightly worse sound quality.

No. I wasn't implying that this one isn't a refurb, and was fully aware when I bought it. I did a search and those were the next best deals I could find, and they happened to be non-refurbs. For me, I would prefer a refurb directly from manufacturer for 50 than a new one for 80 from an ebay seller, or 100 from major retailer.

Here's a good review on five comparable speakers from a good site;
