I spoke with a rep that said mid-October 2019, though I can't remember the exact day. He also said, like so many other new customer promos, that the double data promotion is unavailable for existing Verizon Prepaid customers without porting out and porting in. I know others have reported success switching to these promo plans in the past, but I've never had any luck, even when escalating.

I know someone says this every time, but ensure that you do not have overcrowded towers or heavy traffic in your area. Verizon (Prepaid or MVNO) have severe network deprioritization and if you are in an area that gets hit hard, you will not be able to use your service many times throughout the day or in an emergency when a lot of other users may be on their phones.

Other networks do this as well, but nobody does it as heavily as Verizon.

What are the taxes / fees like on Verizon? Seems like a great deal.

Yeah it happens when in a concert/game or in downtown Manhattan like places , othewise I never experienced it in other areas due to tons of small cells and massive Mimo.

Has anyone moved from non-gudp postpaid to prepaid in the bay area (anywhere from sf to sj)? I'm looking at reducing some of my bills and cellular is the first to go. I like my fudp, but I can do without unlimited, the $80 and never winning any supertickets! $30 or less with ebay refill would be pretty good, but if I can not browse or have low loading times, not really worth. Other option would be current att prepaid promo.

Also for info, you can go from vzn postpaid to prepaid, it's called migration to prepaid.

Perfect for me then. I have balance running out in late July. I'll probably port over then.

I'm charged $4.81 on top of the $45/mo. I've been with Verizon prepaid for quite awhile and I was bumped up to this plan automatically. No complaints.

Live in Bay Area (Alameda) and switched to Red Pocket Mobile. 5GB LTE Data and unlimited everything else. Was super weary of switching from Verizon at first, but it's not that big of a difference. Unless you watch tons of video or streaming while on BART/BUS. I believe it was $180 for a year. Yup, a year. $15 a month. Versus the $90 a month I paid with Verizon. They use AT&T towers. One major caveat is that you can only send/receive photos from other iPhone users.

That's not bad. Data would be too low for me, but I can see the appeal for low data users.

Ehh, I tested Visible for 3 months while I had Verizon Post Paid and usually got the same speeds to a third slower with Visible vs Verizon, of course, I think that's because seeing anything higher than 7mbps up or down on Verizon Post Paid anywhere in Idaho was already a rarity, since I'm pretty sure Verizon doesn't even know they offer service here at this point. Literally the worst state for coverage, besides AK.

Also, just get Visible for $40/mo (including taxes and fees). Unlimited 5-7mbps data up/down, including unlimited hotspot, and HD video. I've had it for 4 months and it's literally no different than V Post Paid was in Idaho, minus voice roaming up north (V PreP doesn't include roaming either).

Can I add AppleWatch to this prepaid $45 16GB data plan for an additional $5 (or $10 or whatever is the price)?
