Good article that explains difference AC2200 vs AC3000.

Good price on the high end Orbi. I've got the next level down and, so far, it's been pretty nice. The downside is that it's not really a mesh system - all units have to have backhaul to the base station. I have a brick+CMU wall in one area of my house and a(n elevated) concrete floor in another. The 5GHz backhaul connection just can't punch through that. I haven't tried the wired link yet.

I just checked and it looks like they're refreshing the lower tier kit (RBK42 - 800Mb backhaul) I bought with an Advanced Cyber Protection(R) and1.7Gb backhaul, so the cheaper one I just got may no longer be on the shelves.

You don't have to use a star topology with orbi, you can link a satellite to another satellite.

Is this enough of an upgrade to return the set I got in December for $339 without the cyber whatever?

I've had this system for a while now, got it for same price from Costco.

It is absolutely amazing, no drops ever and very high consistent speeds throughout our 3 story townhome.

This is not an upgrade, unless you bought a 2-unit instead of a 3-unit system back in December.

Costco people.....question on ordering online. Trying to buy the sink disposal that says "$20 manufacturer's savings* " just like this item. So the disposal should be 79.99. But when I go through the checkout process, it says $20 discount, but still shows the total as 99.99 on the final screen. Does Costco charge me the correct price after checking out or do I need to contact customer service?

Not the units themselves but the included monitoring service.

Oh ok, I apologize for misunderstanding that. Hopefully someone will be able to answer that part for you.

Glad someone clarified that the hardware is the same as the RBK-53 I bought for $319 at costco just a few months ago. Not worth the time and effort to return/buy this to save $20.

On another note, this is a pretty reliable set up. I bought this to replace the Google WiFi that I had installed.

I didn't know that; everything I saw said they had to be star. For my application I will still have to go wired for one area but it's good to know that satellite to satellite is possible; I might get a third satellite to improve coverage on the deck.

I bought this set a while back. Very reliable. No complaint. We keep the cable modem and the main unit of Orbi in the closet - they can get hot. I bought a cheap laptop fan and put the cable modem and the main Orbi unit on the fan.

Is this better than the Bestbuy 3-piece Orbi I just bought two weeks ago?

I realize this one is AC3000 vs. AC 2200...but not quite sure what that means?
