Personally I prefer open-back headphones such as the SHP9500 or AD700X which are far superior for FPS gaming but I live alone so sound leaking isn't an issue. These are super popular and there are far worse headsets out there.

MixAmp is pretty worthless for most people on Xbox One since they added Sonic and Atoms support through software. I am sure some people will justify buying this and more power to them. Just don't jump on the hype train of custom EQ and Astro support. Their forums shut down for a reason. They really weren't super helpful with supporting these products, fixing bugs, or addressing issues.

Uhh, ok? I was simply clarifying that the A40's were open back, you made it sound as if they weren't.

Calm down.

Quick heads-up. This is the prior version of the MixAmp. There's a newer A40 + MixAmp bundle.

Just FYI, they're releasing a completely new redesigned headset & mixamp so that's why I'm assuming they're getting rid of these.

Just curious. What is different between old and new versions. I couldn't really find a difference/benefit to new vs old. I purchased these the last time they went on sale and am very happy. The PS4 colors are better IMO.

I was about to buy an other headset and a mix amp for my xbox a couple weeks ago but then I found out with a little bit of searching online, buying a trrs male to male cable and messing with the one x's settings, now im able to use my ps4 astro tr pros on both systems flawlessly! The meaning to this story is that you don't need to buy both.

I used to agree and came from a pretty similar background in SHP9500/HD650s. However, after actually using the Astro A20s on my Xbox for a while I see why folks prefer the exaggerated bass and treble profiles of the Astro headsets, it works really well for highlighting footsteps. I love my nicer headphones on pc but they lack character in fps for me. Just my 2c

The A40's are open back unless you purchase the $60 mod kit that makes them closed back.

Comparing the a40 to the shp9500 sound stage isn't even close. Comparing it to the ad700x is a joke. It's not on the same league yet cost noticeably more.

Is the MixAmp Pro TR good for music? Does it support Sennheiser HD6XX? Thanks!

This is completely faults. I find the MixAMP is very useful for a few reason. It can mix chat and game on the fly. Stream port is god gift. Powered my Z7M2 perfectly and microphone tuning is great as well.

That's fair enough but any 3.5mm adapter also allowed this. I assume you're using the controller with the built in 3.5 which is unfortunate. I prefer it on my controller for quicker muting and such. Xbox is notoriously bad at allowing mutes from anything other than the controller mute.

A 40 TR are prob the most comfortable and best performance headphones that I've had to date. I've been gaming for a long time and bought countless Turtle Beach and other headphones. I mainly play FPS and found a great setup for the mixamp that I've been using. You can customize the mixamp with 4 presets for dif type of games.

I bought the Astro A50s back in 2012 and fell in love. I just bought the A40s last year and absolutely love them. They do have long wires, so keep that in mind.
