The retailer's new Onn-branded tablets start at just $64, and there are three models that cost less than $100. Among the offerings is the 8-inch Onn Android Tablet, which costs $64 and the 10.1-inch Onn 16 GB Android Tablet, which costs $79. A version of the latter tablet with a detachable keyboard costs just $99.

XDA-Developers editor-in-chief Mishaal Rahman at the time also tweeted specs of the tablet that have stood up to the information now on Walmart's site.
Walmart will sell a cheap Android tablet with Android Pie, the first tab with Android Pie not from Samsung or Huawei.

Specs:
* 8-inch 800x1280
* MediaTek MT8163
* 2GB RAM
* 16GB storage (expandable)
* Android 9
* microUSB
* 3500mAh, 5V/2A

These just came out, in house brand Onn by Walmart. I was there today and found all three models in stock. Just a heads up if you need a Android 9 Pie OS and full Google Play store. I'm testing the bigger model and so far so good. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Onn-10.../258891221

It's not going to be a e-reeder with this screen but it's plenty sharp and bright for pushing media. I got tired of waiting for DTVNow to get on my Fire HD10. It runs smooth and fast enough for my tastes. Audio is on par with FH10, but louder. Thicker than the HD10 and shorter battery life, 5hrs or so. Native Google Home and chromecast are very handy to have. I always dock it anyway so battery life isn't a big deal.

Android tablet features a 1280 x 800 IPS pixel display, a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, Android 9 software, a 2MP rear camera and a 0.3MP front-facing camera. It supports 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0. quick look https://www.zdnet.com/article/wal...d-tablets/

Maybe they will go on sale soon but I will probably keep it, only a 15 day return window. I wasn't paying attention and got the one with keyboard for $99 by mistake.

Is this a sale price or retail? Thinking they would be great for home automation

not oos, but only available in store right now. looks like this is retail and they just launched today. no mention of an sd slot, but I'd be really surprised if they didn't have that. otherwise, price:specs looks pretty good. I hate my daughter's constant complaints about her fire 8 not working right and having to factory reset it for the umpteenth time, these are something I'll be keeping an eye on

yes, it has SD slot for expanding storage. I filled it up with most of my Nexus 7 apps and still only half full. I love having Plex and Prime Music at my finger tips. The big bezel it rather ugly but I'm still enjoying it as a little portable TV, even out in the sun.

Plex 1080p works fine but 4K buffered a bit. Found a good review, compared favorably to the Fire HD 8 on benchmarks. https://youtu.be/M_Oh1_U7t30

Trying to decide between the 8" model for $65 and the 10.1" with keyboard for $100. They both have the same specs (the larger one may have a larger battery). Any pointers? I'd be using it for media consumption (YouTube, ebooks, reading the news, etc) and for playing whatever games it's capable of running. Maybe typing docs and emails just for fun, but that would require buying a BT keyboard for the smaller one.

OP, is the keyboard for the larger one BT? Or does it plug into and is powered by the tablet somehow?

Same specs across all three, battery life went down on slow charger. I'll amp it up and do some more video, that 4K on youtube was fine, my Plex server chokes on the conversion.

$79 10.1-inch slate so not sure the keyboard is worth 20 more, it's nice but not BT. It has pins on the bottom of tablet for connection. I just don't type much on a tablet so haven't tried it yet. Only the 10 comes with keyboard for $99, it was still in stock last I checked. Android Pie is the real selling point, seem to run nice and smooth. Just a tiny bit of bloat with Walmart app preinstalled.

Any idea if it supports adaptive (adoptive?) storage? Like if you insert an SD card, can it be formatted to be part of the internal storage so we can install apps and stuff on it? If so, these tablets would be pretty good for the price.

no idea, about Adoptable storage, but I don't see the point, it's slower and probably wouldn't run those game apps well. Anyway, 16GB has always been plenty for my apps with MicroSD for media. I'm not a power user, it was just what I needed for smart home and media console. Haven't tested BT but it does have AC and plays well with other devices. I Was surprised to find all three in my local walmart and a youtube review out already.
