Wierd. I've had two Pixel 2XLs and 2 Pixel 3XLs and (wife and I), and we've used the original charger on both of them with no issues. What exactly is breaking so I can watch out for it?
The tip seems to have been splitting (like what happens to iPhone chargers)

On eBay there's a generic 30W PD/QC3.0 Type-C charger with an additional Type-A 2.4A port and folding plug for $6.99 free shipping. I've had 4 and they have all been reliable for the past year. I'm not sure if they supply 18W specifically though, since it goes from 5V3A to 9V3A in its specs.
edit:nvm, you said $6.99 + free shipping .

wheres the one you got and how long has it been reliable?

Yo, are you talking about this one??https://www.ebay.com/itm/Fast-Cha...3782332209

I'm still using the original charger than came with the original Pixel XL, which I got at launch. It's been very reliable, even after constant travel with it.

Do you have a link? Just searched eBay with those exact terms and I can't find anything under about 11 bucks

Geez.... 42% 1 star on Amazon for this. Many are indicating the ones sold on Amazon are knock-offs.

Better off spending a little more dough and getting the tiny Anker PD Atom which uses the newest GaN technology. Provides up to 30W of power and many are using this tiny charger to power their 12" MacBooks.

Specs:
Total output wattage: 30W
Input: 100–240V ~ 1.2A 50–60Hz
Power delivery output: 5V = 3A / 9V = 3A / 15V = 2A / 20V = 1.5A
Size: 1.61 inches x 1.37 inches x 1.49 inches
Weight: 2.2 ounces

Those reviews are for people who bought it from other sellers. This one is sold by Amazon itself.

Your results may vary but I have been through two Google chargers for Pixel 2XL and both have stopped working
I had issues with the charging cable. The original USB-C cable that came with my Pixel was bad out of the box. Google sent me a charger and cable and it lasted until recently. I don't travel with this charger and cable so it doesn't take any abuse.

While I was browsing the Google 18W on Amazon, the adapter from Ravpower popped up on similar items, and after reading about the adapter, I decided it's a better use for me and bought one.

For those that don't necessary need another short USB-C to USB-C cable, I think it may work better with slightly cheaper cost ($13.99) , a PD up to 30W and an extra USB-A port. The total power is rated 36W, so I imagine it is splitting the 36W amongst the USB-A and the USB-C PD port.

Type-C (20V 1. 5A, 15V 2A, 9V 2A , 5V 3A max) and USB devices (smart: 5V 2. 4A max)

Here's the link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...UTF8&psc=1

I think there's too much concern for counterfeit chargers to bother with this as a deal. Not to mention there are lots of decent third party companies making good USB-C PD chargers inexpensively and with often more options (Anker, Nek teck, Monoprice, Aukey, etc)

Can a laptop USBC charger be used to charge a phone (Pixel 3)? I have both a Dell and Apple USB-C charger and have been afraid to try.

Best Buy has the same charger (in a Google retail packaging, from what I've seen at the stores) currently on sale for $19.99 (reg. $34.99). At least you know it's the real thing buying it from Best Buy.
