I got this tv off the costco deal ($1249, then price match to $1199, then price matched to $1149...)

My quick review:

- Probably impossible to beat for HDR content at this price point, it's seriously amazing black levels and super bright highlights for HDR material, this tv was made for HDR content...just keep the FALD backlighting to medium, not high...I have no blooming issues there

- Extremely average SDR tv, must turn FALD to low otherwise MASSIVE blooming on most content and still get a little blooming on low with things like tv guide (very noticeable)...the upscaling is a little bit worse than even my 2014 Samsung HU8550 it replaced for cable (720p) content, people arent lying when they say Vizio has the worst upscaler out there, it's not horrible, but it's definitely the worst I've seen out of the major brands

- Yes it has 192 zones which is a lot, but their FALD algorithm isn't that great IMO, I prefer other brands like Sony's or Samsung's....even TCL's is better IMO

- The remote feels like it's for a budget tv, there's no voice control (except through Alexa, and it's very basic through that)...you get a budget package with higher end panel basically with this set

- Smartcast sucks entirely, at least it has built in chromecast which works, everything else is sluggish, the tv wifi and ethernet is extremely slow and it almsot forces you to go with an external streamer

- HDMI ARC never worked right with my soundbar, had to go optical for the connection, a minor inconvenience, but an inconvenience

Overall I would say if you're very much into HDR content, this is a great set for that, unbeatable at this price point. If you could care less, it's a very very average set. There's A LOT of compromises you have to make to get great HDR performance.

Bummer you missed out on the $799 deal. Hopefully the other retailers will have drops in price soon.

I don't know much about this reviewer, but in case anyone wanted to know how the 2019 models stack up against the 2018 models, this publication says the $1400 "Standard" P-Series Quantum has a better picture than this model. Just thought people may/may not find that helpful. The 2019 P-Series Quantum (non X) does not get as bright as this TV though.

In practice, those impressive numbers ended up yielding a similarly impressive image, resulting in the best display I've seen from VIZIO to date, beating not only last year's standard P-Series, but also last year's flagship P-Series Quantum when it comes to overall picture.

This TV at this price is an absolute steal. One of the best non OLED TV out there IMO. Might buy a 2nd.

Perfect review, could not have said it better. If you use cable, pass on this TV.
