Beat me to it. Was looking at the email thinking, hmmm that looks awful close to the $236 I paid for the 8600k. Damn I said.

I've been scouring, looking for combo deal on NewEgg for an i7 or an i5...I guess with this price I'll go ahead and make my own combo and see what I come up with.

Anyone has any recommendations on deals for a decent MoBo and RAM (16GB, 3000-3200), I'm all ears.

This WILL happen this weekend....tired of looking. Smilie

There's some decent, cheap 16g 3000 RAM on the memory page of SD. I have the Adata Gammix ($63 now, I bought for $74, and that was cheap at the time!) with my 9600k. I hit 3000 instantly with XMP enabled. The Crucial Ballistix RAM also looks good. (I have a ROG Maximus Hero XI, but that's not a cheap board.)

I found some GSKILL 16GB @ 3600 for $85, which isn't too shabby.

Now I just have to find a decent motherboard and try to come in under $500 total! With the RAM and CPU, it puts me right at $350.

Newegg has the following combo deal for $468.97....it'd be a smidge slower RAM and I don't know about that mobo...but its getting harder to beat that deal.

Hrmmm, this i5, or an i7? Is the hyperthreading really worth the extra $100-200?

If you're really stuck on $500, I'd save money on the RAM and put it into your mobo. 3600 isn't going to get you an appreciable boost with the 9600k, For Intel chips the mobo is more important than the RAM.

Good deal, integrated graphics, get a decent mini itx board for 100 bucks and possibly build a non gaming rig for under 500 bucks.

Hows this for a non gaming build with a nzxt h200 case and dell 27 inch monitor?

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/

Also if I wanted to start gaming, all I gotta do is get faster memory and get a video card?

This non gaming build would be under 600 total if everything works out.

Would this be a worthwhile upgrade for my i5-7400 in my Dell XPS 8920? I plan lots of racing simulation games that use CPU power.

This is a pretty good deal. Finally intel is starting to compete with Ryzen.
