I have this laptop and its great. It will play all games on medium/high mixed settings at 1080p. I usually plug it into my TV and use a wireless xbox controller to play games. For reference I would say its graphics level is somewhere between an Xbox One S and an Xbox One X.

Any heat problem? Is fan noise loud?

Anyone that's had this before, what's the build quality of this? Seen reviews of other Acer laptops saying build quality is poor and buttons fall off and such. Any personal experiences?

I had this laptop for about 3 weeks, got it for 549 refurbished on eBay last year. I would've thought the price would have dropped a little further by this point. Guess not. Reason I got rid of it was it had trouble driving my monitor (Acer XF251Q) while playing Destiny 2 on medium settings. Decided to build a desktop and buy a mid range chromebook almost instantly after trying to tweak the settings for 2 days.

Game played perfectly fine on the laptop without a monitor though so I guess it all depends on how you'll be using it. I wanted it as a portable system that I could use with a keyboard, mouse, and monitor at home.

If gaming the fans get loud, normal use no noise. If gaming some use a laptop cooler, repaste - google it, or elevate base for more air flow.

Is this version that's on sale for $629 better than this newer 2019 entry version? Looks like the 2019 has a better CPU, battery life, and form factor, but the 2018 has a better GPU.

The build quality is good, no complaints. It's hard high quality plastic and the back of the lcd has a fine finish.

The heck, I didn't know the 2019 version was out. It looks good but this 2018 one is cheaper so I'm happy.
