I'm not complaining. I'm just saying that if you're going to mount this over an entertainment center (where there are presumably other electronics), wouldn't a normal TV look fine?
You wouldn't buy this if you are wanting it to sit above an entertainment center. We want one to go above a fireplace, where a piece of art looks a lot better than a TV. Our neighbor has one above her fireplace, and it's funny how many people walk right past it and have no idea it's a TV. Another friend has one in the kitchen, and he uses it for business meetings where his employees all sit at the island and do teleconferences on the Frame. Rest of the time, it's not an obnoxious-looking TV in the kitchen, it's a piece of art.

If you are putting it where a regular TV would look just fine (e.g. above an entertainment center), then you are missing the point. and you would indeed be better off getting a regular TV.

Come on man!! Read the previous posts. 2018 is a glorified nu8000 panel, the 2019 is a QLED.

I am ready to pull trigger on this TV. For those that actually have the TV, can you explain what the difference is between the standard bezel, and the addon bezel that they sell for ~$200? That is, does this look like a picture frame without the addon bezel?? If I'm not interested in any of the other color options, any reason to purchase a black addon bezel?

I have the much older version that I got for steal and the bezel which comes in a variety of colors (I chose the natural color) really makes the tv look like a work of art because it emulates a frame. It also compliments my floating entertainment console that is mounted directly below it. I have fooled many people who believe it was a piece of art and not a tv.

I tried the 2019 version and returned it. I didnt find the art to be convincing at all.

If the room is bright you can make the TV look like art. But as soon as the lights change the tv sticks out like a sore thumb. Nobody has backlit art. The tv tries to adjust brightness to fit the surroundings but it only works with minor changes. You can make the art look just ok in either a bright room or a dark room but switch back and forth and it's very obvious that you have a tv.

I also don't like the detached box. I put a lot of work into recessing power and accessory wires behind the mounting areas for my TVs. I can run an HDMI cable to a remote location no problem. Power is right there behind the TV. But now if I want to put the one box in a remote spot I need a $500 cable to do it. That's nonsense.

If it's any help- I've had the 49" 2018 model since December. My wife and I like it a lot. The performance is 'serviceable/good enough" compared to the other TV's we tried out earlier in the year but took back (Vizio P 55" series and TCL 6 series 55"). The Samsung Frame 2018 does not have the eye popping brightness or color range of the Vizio nor the easy Roku navigation of the TCL,
but where the Samsung Frame wins is
  • the calming picture frame (If that interests you)
    • I tried to replicate on the TCL but it didn't have the same effect and was always too bright and didn't look like a real picture.
  • The single wire connecting the TV to the input box looks nice
    • Super easy to hide one wire compared to other TVs w
  • I also think the simple white remote control is nice (One remote?) Haven't figured out the voice controls.
  • The Included wall mount sits flush to the wall like a picture frame
  • The built in apps like Netflix and YouTube TV are still new/updated enough to work well.
We bought the 49" for $800 at the time which was a good deal so I think this is a great deal.
In all honesty, the picture quality may be a small step back compared to the TCL 6 or Vizio P but if you're interested in this TV at this price, You have to factor in what it's made for...To not look like a black digital screen when the TV isn't on.
I'm happy with my purchase, and prefer it over the TCL or Vizio, but it's not perfect.
Can it be configured as a picture slideshow or do you still have to manually set the picture you want?

I got in on the deal for the 55 inch set. Google express is listing next Thurs, June 6 as the estimated delivery date. Not quite an express transaction, but the price is right.

Hey why do you say it's $500 to run the onebox to a remote spot? I'm looking at pulling the cable through a conduit to hide.. what issues did you encounter?

The TV comes with a 5m cable. If you need more than that you can buy a 15m version for $300 (if you can find one in stock), but be careful because there are several versions that are incompatible with each other. Also beware of the fragile nature of the cable. You'll find lots of people who give them poor reviews for being so easy to break. No sharp bends.

I have the One Connect with a different Samsung TV and a heads up the cable connection point maybe a little wide if you are running out thru your wall. The only thing I wish on the box is a few more HDMI connections but that's also a problem with TVs without the One Connect box.

55" for $799 is not a bad deal, i bought a 43" from bh 2 weeks ago for $699. image quality is great both pic mode and tv mode. it can be mount to wall with no gap and looks like a real pic is what make it unique from others. the only downside is the app, it's buggy when you are trying to upload / control photos. overall it's not a bad buy, 8/10

I appreciate the idea around this...but I am somewhat shocked it doesn't have a matte screen. Seems like the easiest way to make this look 100x better and less reflective of lights in the room when displaying art.
