Remember if you are new to atmos content you need several things for atmos to work properly
1. An atmos source (select Netflix originals on a 4k plan, vudu uhd titles etc)
2. Atmos capable streaming device - apple 4k TV, xbox one are the best choices imo
3. Atmos receiver like the soundbar posted

A bit of luck that the above three things play together nicely.

If this included rear channel speakers, I would be in.

This made me understand it better:

Yeah, it's a hot mess, especially if you want Atmos in 4K with HDR. Basically, your sound quality will be limited to your weakest link, which can be your TV, Blu-Ray player, sound bar/AVR, or one of the HDMI cables (upstream/downstream); good luck troubleshooting all that if something is off.

However, there is a ray of hope:

"eARC was introduced as part of the HDMI 2.1 standard but as reported by FlatpanelsHD in January 2018, the HDMI Forum has confirmed that eARC is one feature of HDMI 2.1 that can potentially be added to HDMI 2.0 based devices via a firmware update, although it is not entirely clear what is required on the hardware side."

If you want to push LG to release a firmware update that adds eARC support like what Sony has done, then petition here:

If you happen to own an LG OLED TV, then you might still be able to experience compressed Atmos via the TV apps through this soundbar:

"As mentioned earlier, it is already possible to output Dolby Atmos in DD+ via HDMI ARC, although with several limitations for quality and the number of speaker channels. The built-in Netflix app on select LG OLED TVs can already do it."

Ohhh $495 at first seems expensive. Def need to research to see if this is worth it.

I remember the previous deals in the mid 300s for something similar to this, prob it's previous generation.

Someone with insight please chip in your knowledge if you know.
New gen (this) has DTS-X. old version did not. Correct, the historic low for the old model was $350 for the 10 series and $300 for the 9 series.

Yes, but you will need to use both remotes.
Wouldn't using an hdmi arc eliminate the need for both remotes?
