A couple of days before I go backpacking I consume fresh uncooked garlic. I crush a clove of fresh garlic in a table spoon and top it with olive oil. The olive oil is to minimize the taste. I try to do this before each meal. This dramatically minimizes bites. I believe it has something to do with the sulfur content in garlic. You will start to smell like garlic. The smell will come out of your pores.

I'm not sure this works. I blasted my skin and long sleeve shirt and still got bit doing yardwork.

Nice price BUT only 10-20% DEET. We used 100% today and still had problems with gnats and Black flies while fishing from a boat....

That's interesting. So at least 6 cloves of garlic consumed by the time you go, right?

Sure about that chief? DEET that high of a percentage is a waste and it will melt any plastic/rubber you touch... (watch bands, phone cases, etc...) 30-50% max. Plus I doubt that high of concentration is good for you...

Walmart outdoor brand with 40% deet works great. No ticks on me for the past 4 years.

I also use this method ,its foolproof don't know why more peeps don't do this (I actually do it for about a week and mix with blended stawberries and bananas ) Its amazing how well this works ,I hate bug bites when camping ect and seems I always get attracted to skeeters . I NEVER GOT A BITE USING THIS METHOD just an fyi for the uninformed duufus lol

It's actually really healthy to eat fresh raw garlic besides the anti mosquito effect.
