Note: This is the Harbor Freights Hercules line, they compare this saw to a Dewalt DWS780. which is about $600. The big problem with the Hercules line is that they only include a 90 Day warranty, but on this saw, they have a no questions asked 1 year return for any reason warranty. Still not 3 years like the Dewalt, but better than 90 days (they should offer at least this on all their Hercules line). Extended warranties can be purchased. This also has the blade shadow feature like the Dewalt (which is nicer than a laser). It is not a complete clone of the Dewalt, Has a twist knob to lock and unlock miter angles instead of a lockdown lever. Also, although the stock 14 inch horizontal sliding cut capacity is the same on both, the Dewalt DWS780 has a unique back fence feature that is exposed once both fences are removed and allows for cutting up to 2×16 lumber, looks like the Hercules lacks this. .Still, for someone considering a miter saw like this, it looks attractive.

Honest thought? It's a harbor freight tool that isn't ridiculously cheap for what it is and that makes it a less-than-appealing deal. If this was $150-175 I'd say, "sure, this is a decent price and while not amazing, it's cheap enough to be worth it." For $300, you'd be better off buying a lightly used, quality dual bevel on Craigslist or offer up for less money.

I haven't seen to many reviews on the Hercules line but for the price seems like a decent deal. I just got the Ryobi on last deal but have I not I would definitely be picking this up instead.

This is their professional line, the Chicago line is the $150 tool in a 12" slider. The quality and features of this are closer to a Dewalt but at half the price. What looks attractive is that it will handle crown molding up to 7 1/2 inches, has a blade shadow feature, is suppose to have tight tolerances and very accurate cuts, and is attractively priced compared to the Dewalt. On some of their other Hercules products, Dewalt has been trying to come close to the price of the Hercules, making the price difference less advantageous. Also, HF upped the warranty on the saw from 90 days to 1 year (they should do this on all there Hercules power tools).

Ya sure whatever. It's still HF. I'd prefer any Dewalt 10 out 10 times.

Is it crazy to consider this over the Delta Cruzer 12" for $400? I like the butterfly radial arms on the Delta but not a huge necessity for me as it's going to be on a stand that I roll out and set up. Also the radial arm seems to deflect more than others when it's fully extended. I like the led shadow cut line on this. I'll never be able to have that on the Delta without heavy modifications.

The Delta Cruzer on Amazon is the discontinued 26-2250 model not the current 26-2251 https://www.homedepot.com/p/Delta.../309442510 I'm not sure what the difference is though. The Cruzer does not have the shadow blade feature. Also, I read reviews that the radial arm on the Cruzer is a little sloppy (OK for framing, but not for great for trim, etc). Most reviews were comparing it to the Dewalt, since the Hercules is suppose to be a clone of Dewalt, I'm assuming it's accuracy would be similar. I'm not sure without looking it up what the warranty is on a Cruzer, either.

edit: Just looked it up, looks like the Cruzer has a 5 year warranty.

One interesting thing about this saw are the reviews on HF for it, out of 408 reviews, there are 359 5 star, 48 4 star, and 1 3 star reviews. There are Zero 1 or 2 star reviews I'm wondering if HF is deleting the 1 and 2 star reviews?.

Yeah, the reviews are really skeptical on HF. I was feeling really good reading the first few but then it was like wtf where are the people with the problems. I don't buy that no one disliked this saw.

Yeah not to sold on the new tool brands from HF. A couple of guys from work have bought the new drills/impacts and 2 love em, 1 already died. Before you knew you were buying cheap tools. Now they want a premium for better but still cheap knock off tools.

I wouldn't buy a battery operated Hercules, but this one appears to be well made... enough that they actually put a 1 year warranty on it (as far as I know this is the only Hercules with more than a 90 day warranty).
