If we are going with anecdotal stories, my AsRock MB has been rock solid for 8+ years.

FWIW I have had no problems with Asrock boards. On my 4th or 5th one in a row no issues (I tend to cycle through hardware pretty regularly). But no brand is immune to random problems. I've had pricier Asus and Gigabyte boards go south or be DOA. Stuff happens. When I'm building the only boards I even consider are those 3 brands.

OTOH I'm not building servers or workstations here at home, this is all consumer grade stuff.

I'm a big Ryzen fan, I have 2 humming away right now. 1700 and a 2700x, both on Asrock.

It's.... a little more complicated than that for hardware manufacturers. Sure, there are simply low quality providers out there, but even good providers have bad models and/or batches of those models.

ASRock is probably not a low quality provider to avoid entirely, but neither can their issues be written off entirely as one-eff anecdotal stories. For example, they had a pretty notorious bug in their firmware a while back that would write to the firmware flash every few seconds, wear it out over the course of 12 to 18 months, and ultimately render the board inoperable.

To further complicate things, ASRock had another fatal issue on the same board which affected systems ~36 months out, but it was actually from an Intel component they were using, not anything specific to ASRock or their practices.

fwiw I just had to replace my AsRock AB350 Pro4 motherboard for the 2nd time. First time I was sent a replacement, 2nd time I got no response from AsRock.

Went with MSI. I'd stay away from AsRock if possible.

Assuming there is a Microcenter near me, if I know Ryzen 3 3300 is a $99, 6 cores, 12 threads CPU and can equally perform or outperform Ryzen 7 2700x AND will be out in July~Aug 2019,

why wouldn't I wait for 2 months and then go buy 3300 and a new motherboard with combo discount from Microcenter near me?

I know this is a lot of IFs; meanwhile I will just park my $$ in AMD call options.

The one OP posted. Ryzen 5 1600 with the Asus board. The Ryzen 5 1600 are $80 at any MircoCenter right now.

My x470 killer sli was doa and the one they sent me as a replacement is less than stellar. Factoring in the return shipping and time, I should have bought a better brand.

Yep, I got that deal. It was the Ryzen 5 1600 and the Asus Prime B350 for $120. Hell of a deal.

And my ASRock is still going strong with the Phenom X3 I built like 10 years ago.

I went through two of these and the motherboard complained about the DDR4 ram. I tried three different brands of RAM so I ended up returning them.
