It has been this price for several months, at least. $99 seems to be the standard price point, even though it says "was $169." Also, this is the exact same model as the Porter Cable that Home Depot sticks for the same price (https://www.homedepot.com/p/Porter-Cable-6-Gal-150-PSI-Portable-Electric-Pancake-Air-Compressor-C2002/203162815). They both come from the same factory, just different stickers. It's definitely a good compressor for the money, just not a "deal" at $99.

I was going to ask if there is any reason to believe that this would be any different from Stanley's other 6-gallon pancakes (Porter-Cable, Bostitch, Dewalt, etc.). But yeah, probably not.

Their other pancake compressors are somewhat routinely under $100. The lowest I've seen new is, I believe, about $70.

This probably goes without saying but this compressor is really loud. I bought the Porter Cable version from HD a month ago. It was my first air compressor and though a lot of people warned about the noise, I needed one for my stair rebuild. Ended up splurging and getting a California Air Compressor instead. It's a bit heavier and not whisper quiet, but I'm happy with it. Now I can use it at night without worrying I'm waking up the neighbors.
